60+ year old thread.

I have one of those S&W snubbies. Those things bite when shooting PP rounds. Hard to go though a box of practice rounds without a bruised hand.

 

Oh yeh the little s&w 38 spl. has some kick especially with +p rounds. Every 2 years in California you have to requalify on up to 3 weapons for ccw. Those are the 3 I’ve decided to re-qualify with this time. I’m really a revolver guy. I’m most comfortable with revolvers and most accurate. I’m well aware of all the reasons many or most prefer auto’s but wheel guns are my go to comfort guns. I’m going to qualify with the 9mm also because I want the option of carrying an auto. Should I ever have to draw and fire I like the simple working of the revolver - draw, point, fire. No worry about taking off a safety (or forgetting to in the adrenaline rush of the moment), a misfire, a jam etc.etc. I carry speed loaders and I can eject and reload just about as fast as I can eject a magazine and slam in another. I can see from my performance today I definitely need some more range time. I plan to spend some serious $$ for ammo tomorrow but fortunately my wife supports me when it comes to guns and ammo. (She is actually a darn good shot)

 

My wife can outshoot me with a rifle, but I'm better with a pistol. I prefer revolvers too. I did use a military issue 45 auto to qualify in the CG and wish I could have taken it home with me.

 

Agreed Ken on wheel guns. I own both but my go to over @ the cabin is my SP-101 4.2 three five seven mag. Just feels so good in my hands regardless if I am hunting, working, or mowing the fields. She jumps a little but that's ok!

 

SP 101’s aka The Tank, are great guns and I’m a real Ruger fan anyway. I had one and really liked it but traded it to a friend for a Taurus Tracker 44mag a few years back. .

 

My girl is , or was Canadian. She became a US citizen this past spring. So now I can take her to the range and teach her how to shoot. She's pretty excited about that. I'll start her with the ruger single six in 22 cal. And we'll work up from there as her confidence builds. I told her now that she's a us citizen she has to get her own gun and learn how to shoot and care for it, it's part of being an american.

 

Got the bmx handlebars in today for my ebike build. They're perfect! Got me sitting upright now and not bent over and leaning on my hands. My hands go numb like that and it's rough on my back.

There's plenty of slack in the cables still, even when turning. Plus the crossbar will give me a place for accessories like a cell phone holder for gps.

The urban assault bike is going to be a hoot on the commute.

 

Congratulations to your girlfriend on becoming an American citizen and God bless her. Now she can enjoy the benefits of our constitution including the second amendment . A 22 cal Ruger single six is a great gun to learn with. Start with 22LR and then when she’s comfortable move up to 22WMR.

The gun has a second interchangeable cylinder, one for 22 long rifle cartridges and the other allows you to fire 22 magnums. They are single action guns. Great fun guns. I also had one of those and sold it several years ago. I’ve regretted that decision ever since.

 

Seems a questionable idea to put a smaller diameter LR down the same barrel as the WMR. Not something I would choose to do regardless of interchangable cylinders.

 

Think of it this way, it’s a 22 magnum that you can also shoot smaller 22 long rifles with. Kind of like a 357 magnum and you can shoot 38’s with.

 

The 357 and 38 have the same diameters.

 

The 22LR and the 22 mag are also the same diameter. The 22 mag case is longer than the 22LR. Just like 38/357. The gun is designed and built to handle the higher pressures of 22 mag while being able shoot the shorter lower pressure 22 lr. The gun has been around 50 plus years with no known problems.

 

Let me correct myself. The diameter of the 22LR and 22 mag casing are very very slightly different. Thus the need for a different cylinder. Anyway it’s a great fun gun to plink with.

Good Morning Porch! Fog supposed to go away, and give us a nice day for errands and such. Supposed to have some ice and winter weather Wednesday night into Thursday - bet the stores will be getting cleaned out today when I go. Long as I can get some stuff for chili, I'll be set.

Nice hand gun assortment guys. I don't know much except safety and basic care. I got the wife a little 380 for Christmas in 20 - it's never been to the range yet! And she knows the lady that owns it. Ammo is real tough to find here though. Maybe once she doesn't have to wear a mask AND ear protection, we'll get out there.
