The problem is the AT is geared too high and doesn’t make enough power down now. Combine that with non sequential shift logic and that’s why there’s so many complaints

if you never drove over 55, the AT really is pretty good. Unfortunately that’s not possible for most and the problems really show at 70+

 

Coming back to this now that it's a new day and I'm not preoccupied. The NSG370 six speed in my dad's LJ needed a rebuild shortly after he bought it. (Previous owner was not kind.)

I'd rebuilt my AX-15, so we were looking at similar options. Everything is expensive, it requires specialized tooling, and it is a long and convoluted process, so he had a shop do it for a few grand instead. Shifts great now. Damn German gearbox...

Haven't heard anything negative about the NV3550 that preceded it, though.

 

Exactly, the preceeding five speed is well known in the Jeep community as being one of the better transmissions made

 

I’ve dealt with them in the past they are annoying and not one of the best dealers around here…

Rarely but there are a few like the guys that found my trucks for me and no bs

Not in like the traditional "wah they tried to screw me over" way or pushy, just not very good social skills. You can be a shrewd or easy going salesman, but a good one takes some emotional intelligence. These guys probably are only selling cars rn because there's barely anything on the lot.
