All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
    Perfect present for my gf!

I've got the exact same blue Troodon. Great little knife. I want to get another one but double edged, full serration. I've also got a Combat Troodon in tanto, but it's a bit too big for practical EDC imo.

I started off with the Troodons but was completely sold on the UTX85 and I’ve now got 4 Ultratechs. I just can’t see myself going back to a Troodon after carrying the others so I might sell them.

I played with a combat Troodon at SMKW last time I was in Pigeon Forge and yeah it’s cool but way too big for daily carry

Funny cuz I went the other way. I started off with a UTX85 and sold it to my BiL. Never owned an Ultratech though. I've also got a pretty good collection of some of the older and imo better Benchmade autos. The Mini-Reflex is actually what I carry the most.

My first “high end” knife was a mini infidel which is the only Benchmade I’ve handled. I 100% hated that knife and it turned me away from Benchmade and onto Microtech. I’m sure their flippers are nice but I wasn’t impressed with their OTF’s. Also taught me that I cannot be trusted with a DE blade haha

I do have the Mini Infidel and have played with their other OTFs and agree they're pretty junky in comparison. Weak springs and don't stay on track nearly as well. Except for that one, all the rest of the BM I've got are flippers and they've been really solid knives. Like I said, the Mini-Reflex is about perfect for me for EDC. Only thing I'd change is I'd get rid of the locking mechanism, and upgrade the steel quality. I don't like most of their new lineups though and haven't bought a BM in a few years now. Been getting into Protech more recently for a change of pace.

The bm 62 arrived today. I’ve always wanted one of these but never picked one up because I usually don’t buy a knife if I’m not going to rotate it into the lineup for edc. Im excited to learn how to use it and07B4E631-F3FD-44B0-94A3-1D9E7B0C168D.jpgEF1421A1-52DD-4E23-9AB5-A030329C1C8D.jpg plan to try it as an edc but just don’t see it as such so I’ll probably use this as my secondary for a bit and see how it goes. It’s a beautiful knife though. Next on the list is most likely a microtech for the carry a lot a use a little pocket. The one I’m using as the all purpose beater at the moment is a lower end spyderco that I’ve been extremely impressed with for cost to performance. This butterfly is also pretty heave at over 6 oz but well made and should hold up just fine if a guy wanted to really use the thing. Does kinda make me feel like I should have greased back hair and a pack of smokes rolled up in my shirt sleeve but I’m happy to finally have at least one in the collection.

My initial thoughts after watching the first few minutes of the edge sharpness test:
This is not a very "fair" comparison between knives there are sooooooo many variables to all the knives he chose. To do this remotely fairly he'd have to test ea with the same grind, blade steel, stock thickness, grind height, blade shape, and steel. That would make it so that ea. companies thickness behind the edge, secondary bevels, and hrc is really put to the test and compared. That type of truly scientific test between manufacturers is nearly impossible. This is just a subject that's so hard to fairly or scientifically test. But he did as good of a job as possible given those circumstances.

Sharpness and grind are design decisions. And just like you wouldn’t use a nice sushi knife on a box, the grind and edge have a
Lot to do with performance for its design.

Sharpness isn't other than hard use would be better with a toothier edge than a finely polished edge. That's why I mentioned those variables. Take my Chaves redencion that thing is a really good slicer with a thick blade stock due to the hollow grind then compare it to one of my hinderers with a flat grind and similar stock thickness the redencion beats it for slicyness but falls short for harder use. I was simply stating those variables play factors in what would dictate the "best knife" well best for what and IMO to have a good scientific approach you need to eliminate as many variables into testing as possible.

I also finished watching the video and the opening pressure I don't like that test and think it's kinda bunk. The most pressure needed to open a blade is the initial breaking of the detent. The way he tested only illustrates slow rolling of the blade after breaking the detent. I rarely open a knife like that.

This is why I said they’re design decisions. I do agree the paper test is useless. And maybe the opening test—idk. Some people complain Hinderer or SHF is hard to open. But a good movie and some practice is usually all it takes.
