    Before you do that, remove the foam block that is in there. This will allow the water to drain a little better and not freeze there.

    I will be doing that for sure. Still gonna spray that paint chip and coat where the ice builds up the most

    For sure fix the chip. This summer I will be pulling all that foam out of there to see if it allows proper draining of leaves and acorns that keep ending up in there for me.

    UPDATE

    so in the end Toyota threw the warranty claim back in my face as expected.

    My dealer sent me to their body shop to sort this out. $75 out of pocket. It's not 100% like brand new but the bit of a low point is barely noticeable and basically cost me nothing.

    The bodyshop guy said I could order a new door frame, painr, install for $1300 and even then the paint wont be factory/may not match plus id lose the factory fit and finish on the door components. He was very adamant that this was not worth going further and I agree.

    Some pics of it now;

    Looks like a pretty good repair to me! I wouldn't have even known just looking at it.

    Yeah they did a great job and they detailed the interior and exterior as a complimentary service. Cannot complain.

    There is a TSB for this in the US and a Service Bulletin in Canada to get this fixed. The one in the attachment is an older one. Have to find the newer US version and the Canadian version which applies to all production years.

    Seems like a decent amount of work. Too bad my full warranty is up. I’ve had this happen at least once every year, and usually thaw it out by putting a space heater near it for a few hours. The dealer knew nothing about the issue when I brought it up a year or two ago. I bet a lot of tacos we see will have the door bent in that area in a few years. Thanks for posting this! Please post if you find the Canadian one. Maybe the dealer will do a “goodwill repair” for me since I’m just out of warranty.

    Did the dealer make note of your request on a Work Order? If so, you might get good will, esp as that TSB is from 2019.

    Never had problems with the door jam freezing. Though my windows are always frozen shut thanks to the garbage window sweeps on the Tacoma.

    If you wipe down the rubber seals with a protectant like wolfsteins you wont see those doors freezing. The windows are another problem...mine constantly freeze till the cab fully warms up which can take an hour with this heating system, same for ice building up on the floor mats. :frusty:
