Talked to a guy up on the B last weekend that had the new "big" Bronco. Thing looked pretty legit. I'd love to see what they do to the BRaptor.

Ford unveiled it a couple of days ago. It’s what the never built second generation FJ should have been 6 years ago. That’s one that Toyota punted on and really smashed their credibility as being serious about off-road racing. I understand why… but racing winners bring in a lot of buyers even today. Not like the 60’s and 70’s, but it’s still an important market for specialty vehicles and things that make oodles of cash on each unit. Ford gets some things right… I think their special vehicle team is one of a few.

You might try expanding your search. I bought my Tacoma in Ft. Collins. They got me exactly what I wanted, for several thousand less than any of the local dealers (who either ghosted me or outright called me a liar when I asked if they would price match). Cost me ~$150 in travel and a couple days of time to go get it and drive it home.

Yeah, I tried. I ordered the lime green monstrosity and nobody will take an order without a $10,000 addendum. They also don’t like dealing with me because I have hearing problems so I prefer to work through text and email.

If you're going to get one, the raptor is the one to get imo. Although they do sound like a vacuum cleaner with the V6 but they're extremely capable. I've driven the ecoboost v6 one and it's pretty sweet. I didn't get to wheel it but just driving around town I liked it way more than a jeep.

Ive heard people talk about issues with the pedal needing more force for the same braking with some of the conversion kits, anything like that on yours?

Anybody else get a letter recently from Toyota about the filter on the air injection pump needing to be inspected and replaced? I've got two Tacos that would need to be inspected, the closest dealer over a hundred miles away, and they refuse to just ship the filter by mail. There is no way I'm driving 450 (total) miles to get my trucks "inspected" just for a $3 filter change.

Anybody have a part # for the external after-market filter?

Havent received the letter myself but Ive already taken the fixit steps long before toyota decided to actually acknowledge the problem. Its a well documented issue. P2442 thread on here for the consequences. The Unifilter mod ($<15ish/ea. Also documented on here) is a way cheaper fix for you and can be amazoned to your door.

The downside is it wont be "inspected" by toyota so if the fan assembly underneath is bad, they may not fix it or the pump if it still fails. Its easy to inspect yourself, but again, its all what they document.

Can you do a rundown of the parts you used?

    What was your total cost?

Does anyone have a 6' OEM tonneau cover for sale? My allocation for a 22' didn't come with one, and thats the type I perfer. My understanding, is we would need to swap the plastic bedrails as well.

Anyone got recommendations for audio shops around SLC?

My stereo randomly stopped producing any sound from the speakers, yet the sub and head unit seem totally fine. I've checked every fuse and wire connection I can easily access, even opened all the door panels. I'm assuming it's a short in one of the speaker wires, but I can't find it.

I have an aftermarket system in my truck with Rockford fosgate amps, tweeters, speakers, and sub and a pioneer head unit. So I'd like a shop that does this kind of work regularly.

@RyanL got some work done at a place around Sandy and was real happy with it. Maybe he can chime in. He's a musician, so if he's pleased, that's good shop.

Yeah I like the crew at Laketown on State St in Draper. Lots of good experience with that shop.

I still want a badlands, no squatch. The bronco raptor seems like a 'meh'. They should have designed traditional glass fenders for it instead of those rain gutters. I think the frame is somewhat strengthened over the other broncos but I don't think its worth the +20K more for a 'factory' long travel.

Given the economy for the next couple years, I probably want to buy another house or land and not waste my money on an expensive vehicle. Looks like Ill be driving my $hit box around for another 10 years.

Welp, I tracked down my audio issue. Turns out my house battery (which also powers the stereo) had been drained to dead by some LEDs in the camper that were just on for who knows how long. I don't know why I didn't check that battery right off that bat, but I've got a small AGM in there for now and everything is working again.

edit: thanks for the recommendations @Gunshot-6A and @RyanL

Localscapes is an excellent resource. There are a lot of tools & info on the site, and if you want to spend a few hours the free online class is great. Puts you in the drivers seat for understanding the concept for designing low-maintenance and low-water landscapes. Which is a good tool to have in your belt whether you’re doing it yourself or hiring someone.
