    I have some unbranded boards from Amazon and a set of Maxtraxx. The Maxtraxx are sturdier and stack much tighter and shorter but the unbranded set work just as well for getting me unstuck and are significantly cheaper.

    Mine have been fine. I've used them in the snow a couple times, and they did the trick. I'm sure the maxtrax are better quality, but for the ~$60 I spent on the xbulls I'm getting enough out of them.

    Several years ago, I picked up these modular type traction boards off Amazon (I don't even see them on Amazon anymore and can't even recall the brand) for something like $50. I've used them twice. Once in winter and once in spring with soft/soupy gravel and they worked just fine each time. They flex and contour to the terrain too.

    I really like how each section (8" long) can attach/detach to allow for varying lengths depending on the situation. I have a total of 8 small pieces. Plenty for use on 2 wheels if needed. 4 of them attached makes a 36" board. Storage a breeze in my tool box/recovery tote when they're broken down into four 16" sections.

    I can echo the other guy in that the X-Bull boards are complete ass. Mine broke on the second use.

    Ended up picking up some Go-treads as the maxtrax are just way too overpriced. Haven't used them yet but they feel a lot stronger than the x-bulls.

    Ok, so if anyone is curious these appear be exactly the same some traction boards I have previously purchased. This is good, because I've used those boards several times and they have done what I needed them to do. I'm sure they're not as bomb proof as Maxx Traxx and I doubt they will last as long, but for that price I was very happy to get them. They are much sturdier than I expected.

    I’ve been looking for a set as well to throw on my roof rack when I’m out in the woods. I’ll probably go with MaxTrax, but saw last night that DV8 Off-road has a new set of traction boards that have like a 10K weight rating or something like that and have a layout to use as a Hi-Lift jack base. Seems tempting for half the price, but no reviews that I can find.
