Front driver side speaker got a bad vibration in it recently so I replaced with a set of Kickers. Since I would have the door apart anyways I was going to add some noise dampening panels that I had left from doing the back seat area. Decided to order some 3m thinsulate to add in as well since that is supposed to absorb more noise than the noico alone. Kind of a pain in the ass to install, but I was able to get good coverage with the thinsulate across the whole of each door. Haven't done the rear doors yet but I have enough of each product to do so. Speakers sound a lot better.

Been looking through this thread (love the extensive idea sharing!). I currently have a Yakima overhaul with a GF SuperLite tent which I love but I also got a puppy so to make adventuring with a puppy easier I'm going to dive into the wedge camper world and after researching despite the price I'm fairly set on the X1. I live in the Columbia River gorge near Portland so I'm going to visit the shop and check some out in person. I have a 2nd Gen Taco with no modifications so I'm wondering after looking through the thread about all the solutions to keep the topper from sliding forward, I won't be doing serious off road driving but do go down some rough and rowdy roads to camp/kayak/bike so I would like to ensure I don't have the sliding problem. I also would like to put some sort of fairing on the front to close the gap but don't necessarily want to splurge for a partial Prinsu rack, any other solutions? The final thing I'm wondering is if anyone uses an electric heater off of a battery for evening time/morning time/moisture that has recommendations. I plan on batteries with solar and won't be running a fridge. I plan on just running LED lights and charging devices and running some electric heat. Maybe eventually a minimal water pump to pump out of a fixed water jug but that's it.

Any input is welcomed and appreciated!

The sliding doesn't seem to be a fully consistent problem and only from those who wheel pretty gnarly stuff. I've driven hours on FS roads with no movement at all- that said it sounds like an SP solution is in the works so by the time you get your camper you should be ok.

Electric heater off of a battery won't get you very far at all. Maybe a few hours at best before you'll drain the battery and that's with a large bank. The best solutions have been diesel heaters or mr buddy (but you will deal with moisture). I've got a fireplace in mine but it's still in testing.

Thanks for the feedback, being in the NW I really only want the heat source to help combat moisture as I do plan on camping in cold and rain. I don't plan on running it all night ever but I'll put some more thought into something like a diesel heater. I love the idea of the stove like you've shared but not sure I want to get into a chimney set up. I'm shooting for a more minimalist build.

My other question is about how much weight anyone has kept on top while opening the tent? Has anyone considered swapping the gas struts for ones that can handle more load? I would like to keep 2-4 whitewater kayaks on top for some trips and they can weigh 30-50 pounds depending on gear, would be nice to not have to take them off at camp.

Not sure on the max weight that someone has used, but tbh I'd plan on taking them off at camp - it could get pretty windy with two boats on top.

While i'm in this thread - can anyone easily remind me how they ran wiring from upstairs? I'm working on my light mounts and want to see some ideas.

I've also got a few sets of KC Cyclone mounts I'd dish out to people for some feedback at a pretty minimal cost (enough to cover production and effort) - hit me in the inbox if you want in.

What gen Tacoma? What cab/bed configuration?

probably not Prinsu since you’ll have to cut it up.

sherpa or similar short and stubby one.

Looking at a 16” Sherpa for the 2015 dc roof, but am looking for cross bars to go on the X1 roof. I’d like to attach a Renogy 100 w rigid solar panel to the cross bars.

Just scheduled my install for 2/23!

Anyone have LED light recommendations for the interior? I'll have a 12V fusebox in the back

@Hikerbox I installed a Roaming Lost setup. Pretty solid and I dig it. Definitely more expensive than CLEDs off Amazon.... You even get some boom chicka boom mood lighting...

@mjb11mjb This is what I did to help keep the X1 on solid footing and not moving. So far so good, no issues at all. I put one in each of the 4 corners.

A few folks just got flat bar from Home Depot to mount to. Keep it low profile.

Yeah this is what I think I'll do if they haven't solved the issue by the time I get a build. Thanks for the posting!

Wired up 4 ssc1 pros above the cab. I originally had just the two above the rear doors. After adding the front two, the lights make a high pitch hissing sound. All 4 are wired together using 14 gauge and powered on by one switch using switch pros 9100. Anyone have any ideas on what’s causing the sound?
