I dunno, is it really necessary to run one's entire house off a generator?
    That's a lot of money...

I'm leaning in the direction of selling the old 5500 watt Generac I used when I was still subcontracting.
    It's loud AF. :annoyed:

Plus it's a bit hard to start.
I tested it the other day when it was 8 degrees out and it was a real bitch to get going (no electric start).

    So I got this:

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XZX5FTR?ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details

I broke it in as directed, tested it and it really is quiet.
I can carry it with one hand easily and it will run the pellet stove (or furnace blower), microwave and a few lights.

Yeah, running AC changes the equation.

Outages in the Winter are what concerns me.
I have a freezer and fridge in my unheated shop, so that's not a consideration.
Though that little generator will run 'em both (barely) if nothing else is plugged in.

No hurricanes to worry about here.

I’d be happy wif a 6500-10000w portable to plug into the main.. which I may end up doin.. just a manual disconnect and plug/breaker… keep in da shed when not in use

i have two brand new frigidaire winder units in da garage

I'd like to have one of the big ones where you never really know that the electric is out. Realistically, there's been one time in 30 years here that I would've really wanted that, and it was during an ice storm and our power was out for 5 days. All electric here :pout:

If you were nearby, I'd sell you my 5500w Generac for real cheap.

Keep in mind, "portable" is optimistic when you're talking 5500w and up.
It takes 2 strong men to lift my Generac into a truck bed.

No apologies necessary; that's what I'd love to have but I really don't need it.
