Indeed. Next time you're in town, I'll plan better and we can explore the options that modern patterns have to offer.

Maybe in ten years when I forget how much I paid for it and it needs a motor I'll just gut it and diesel swap it and rip all of the electronics out and SAS it. But probably not.

Sure, it's certainly possible for those with access to ALL OF THAT DATA to connect the dots and possibly identify who owns the vehicle. This is not something that can be done without a warrant or other need to know parties. None of that data identifies the owner personally, it's just data/numbers in a database. Toyota and the third parties that collect that data don't have DOT records for vehicle registration, etc. "Cross referencing related datasets", as you put it, still doesn't tell them who you are or anything personal. They could probably make a really good guess at your age, sex, race, etc but they couldn't find out who you are with that data alone. This is the same data that you phone, tv, computer, etc collect about it just in another device. Again, all of this has been hashed over in this thread and is something the original owner agreed to with a legally binding contract upon purchase.

OP might be right but the wall of text and unexplained pics of random parts aren’t very convincing.

I'm assuming (OP) they removed any electronic parts that send or receive data. Or also related nanny controls? I wonder if their dash is lit up like a Christmas tree?

I thought the 19 and older trucks didn't have a built cell connection. Wouldn't simply not connecting your cell phone stop this data from being sent out?

If the Toyota dataset includes time/gps stamps, you’re sunk. Any data-mining company worth its salt that has access to that data set and cell phone whereabouts, is going to be able to put together who owns the car based on the frequency coincidence of location.

Um.. hate to break it to you, but there are many ways to identify people. Google can identify you by your mouse mannerisms, which means they could most likely identify you by your throttle and braking mannerisms.

As for needing a warrant, again no. You signed the agreement, which says they can sell the data, it did not say who they can or can't sell the data to.

I often drive backwards for long distances and work some figure 8's into the route. I will drive through the drive thru backwards at least once in awhile also. I figure they are watching me for sure.

Big data…. Interesting side note here. We contracted with a data analysis company to create predictive vectors for our patient population. We were looking for key social indicators or other metrics that correlated with increased risk of poor outcomes or non compliance. Our goal was to be able to identify patients that may have needed extra attention or risk management to keep them on their course of therapy.

The interesting part is the data they analyzed and matched to our patients was mostly Amazon, google, residence, and other social attributes. In the end, it doesn’t matter what the predictor is - it could be the color of your socks - as long as it works.

Throw enough data and cpu flops at the problem, and eventually patterns and correlations appear.

rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
Shouldn't the data transmission radio frequency be discoverable? One could then monitor one's own vehicle for the information "shared".

    3G, 4G, 5G?

    encrypted, encoded, VPN?

Is there a share ware somewhere?

Exactly, this spins the transistor drive line in reverse and allows you to suck all the data back up

Actually it confuses them and they start watching you. All the while the real action is taking place elsewhere...

Right, it confuses them when the data stream is reversed. Total photonic reversal. Good tip.
