I had several other things I forgot to mention that I was happy to have. I carried two full size shovels and a gerber folding shovel. I had two chainsaws. I could have made a fire or small bridge if needed. With the chainsaws I carry extra oil, gas, chains and sharpening tools as well as stuff to fix basic problems.

This was from an Elk hunt near Rifle, CO back in 1996, my dad's Toyota. My cousin was hunting in same area, just happened to ride by on their quads and stopped to help pull us out of the mid. We just slid sideways off the road and down into the ditch.

It wasn’t immediate hydrolock, but I’d did occur after some time and yes it was a little more sporty than planned. That pickup and the gremlins that came with the water went down the road. New and improved in the driveway now, but I still think I will skip high flow crossings on that river until my memory gets shorter.

First one is me down to the frame after yanking a friend out. I was saved by Cuban angels bombing around on their SxSs and atvs. Their arrival was heralded by Daddy Yankee blaring on their loudspeakers.

The second is the same friend on a different day buried deep. It took several hours of hi-lift/traction board/repeat to get him out of the suck.

Did I learn my lesson and upgrade from stock tires? Nah. I'm gonna run those down.

Is there at least a good story involved? Get caught on one side before heavy rains and you had no choice but to cross back over?
