I'm pretty sure there is a law that states they cannot void warranties if you yourself or a third party performs oil changes.

Edit: of course that is unless you or they forgot to like...put oil in or something.. like you stated.

Dude, not sure you even know enough yet to be asking for advice? Where is the leak coming from? Figure that out and then go from there.

Start searching here for "Timing Cover leak" and clench your butthole.

You're right, I don't. It was coming up from higher than the plug would be, though. Regardless, my point is, I'm nervous when they already start the song and dance about it possibly not being covered if it's oil and they didn't do the oil change.

You should do some checking first. Maybe takes some pics. One likely step would be to clean up the oil to see where it is coming from. That would kill a lot of you existing ammo.

If it were to be that, would that be covered normally under warranty?

I should have taken pictures, but it was leaking so bad, I just took it straight to the dealership and dropped it off.

I couldn't see anything leaking, looking under the hood, but the stain was running down the metal framing immediately to the left of the engine and pooling up and dripping off my skid plate.

I tell my kids to quick snap pics at any collision, but have failed to do that myself.

Up high cannot be due to an oil change unless the fan was scattering it.

    Oh look, another mod....
I bet you're the kind of guy who asks the doctor "Tell me what's wrong with me and how it happened!" before you even give the doctor your full list of symptoms or before he even has a chance to give you a physical.

We cannot know what is wrong with your truck unless you give more details, pictures and history about the problem. Besides, we're fucking random people on the internet. We can't fix it via the web. Take it to a mechanic!

You seem to be the kind of guy that doesn't read before posting. I didn't ask what was wrong with my truck.

I'm hoping that's all it is. And of course I wouldn't expect that to be covered. But the leak seems to be stemming from higher up than where the plug/filter would be.

Maybe I should have been more clear in my OP. I'm not asking what is wrong with the truck (though I appreciate the replies in that regard). I'm just asking what the possible solutions are, in the hopefully unlikely event it's something that is obviously not oil change related, and they won't cover it because they didn't do the oil change.
