Must be sheet metal... I didn't think Subaru's were meant to carry that kind of bulk. Interesting, but not my style...

Okay, need some input... there is a bolt on the bottom of the frame. This bolt goes through and holds the bottom of the transmission crossmember. Anyone ever take that bolt out? I need to get it out, but it is a stinker. In atypical Toyota fasion it has a nut on the other side, kind of in the crossmember-PIA!. Need it out to get my sliders up and on. So, asking if there experience here. I know... need a picture. Maybe when it warms up to the 20's again...

I already have rail plates made using the link for "make your own rock sliders" here on TW. The hole is re used to bolt back on... just looking for advice from any who may have had a reason to pull that bolt out. All else fails I'll grind it off, pound it out and and go fishing for the new bolt when I get the rail plate up there

I vaguely remember removing a bolt in that area when I installed my sliders from RCI. They included a different bolt to replace the stock one.

Are you talking about one of the welded nuts? I actually broke one of those cuz I forgot it was welded in..... Oops.

And lots of PB blaster. Let it soak for a bit before you go at it.

Welded nuts... Hummmm. Didn't look that close. Saw a nut, put some ugadugga on it. No move. Added a 5' extension to my ugadugga and it moved. and moved and moved etc, There is a nut on top of the frame that I can touch, and I am astounded that Toyota just lets it spin-they always weld that stuff (although I may have broken something in all honesty-but usually you hear it or fell it which I experienced neither,) Grinder will make this problem go away, just not looking forward to trying to get a nut on the new bolt...

I dont know how much room there is but you can drill and tap a hole (not going to use a nut) use as a nut but make it big/long enough so it will hit something, so it won't spin (drill the hole of center)
a piece of rectangular plate will work
