Took it to the shop make sure if i had nails or something. Me, oblivious to anything about tires - i was told that the tread of the tire is so far gone is having trouble keeping air inside so it’s pushing a threshold amount - out. So in response i buy new tires thinking it will fix the issues. I buy 4 new Toyo open country at 3’s, great tires love em so far but i still had the issue of tire preassure! So then i start thinking is the valve or tpms….. just for a friend of my dads to look at it….whos a dealers and finds the rim is cracked.

Over $1200 Later i end up buying a new rim which it was the stock one most sr5 tacoma’s come with, factory default, the OEM Alloy Wheel.

I take it to the same place where i originally started this whole mess at (the one with the tire problem) for them to install the rim. Come back for the Car and Notice the weights are Double stacked.
-Now here is where my trusting issues are going haywire because i hear one thing (bent rim, bad management, etc) and the next thing contradicts the other…(thats it fine) -to the point where - i don’t know who to believe.

if anybody can give me any ideas maybe i can come to one base solution.

Sounds like the initial tire shop didn't really care much to look into your issue an just shoved buying new tires in your face. It blows my mind a tire shop didn't see that, especially if they installed new tires on those rims not to mention if you informed them you had a tire not holding air, they obviously didn't investigate.

Stacking weight's isn't ideal but some shops stack them, not the end of the world.

As for them not noticing the cracked rim an just telling you that you need to buy new tires to solve your problem, I'd avoid that shop and never go back again. They clearly just wanted your money an had no regard for customer service.

$1200 for one rim? That seems excessive. Did that include the tires?

    Welcome to the forum :hattip:

My BS meter just pegged here -- Sounds like you need a new tire shop.

For the last several decades tire wear has commonly been measured in 1/32" measurements -- 3/32" is considered to be worn out, the tire has some raised sections molded in so they appear as a band across the tread of the tire. A competent (honest) shop would have explained it to you just that way.

Your truck is a 2019 - how many miles, were the tires "bald"?

The rim inspection is part of mounting tires, the cracked rim should have been caught by the person who mounted the tires.

Balancing tires is a fairly simple process but it takes care and attention to detail, that said it frequently seems maddeningly difficult to find someone who provides that care and attention to detail.

These trucks are so new and so many people modify them they’re selling almost brand new OEM wheels and tires for dirt cheap. I hit a huge hole on the interstate and cracked a rim and destroyed the tire. Dealership wanted over $600 to replace wheel and tire. I went on FB marketplace and got a like new set of 2021 SR5 OEM wheels and tires with the spare for $400 locally, had less than 1k miles on them. Still had OEM TPMS sensors installed and didn’t have to even pay for mount and balance, it was a win win.
Don’t be afraid to go used and find a new tire shop immediately.

Find a good shop and be loyal. Get someone who will bust down the tire and rotate it 180 degrees on the rim if it needs more than about 2.5 ounces to balance. The good guys are out there, you just haven't found them yet.
