    Pick what.
I have explained everything. Its not a coat of armor. It makes cleaning easier and will make it so you don't have to worry about applying protection to your paint for a long time. It doesn't stop anything else really. It is not hard to remove unless you get the TRUE Opti-Coat Pro with self-healing. Thats not a product sold to consumers though

Well the coating they did on my truck has eliminated paint chips i use to get on my tundra. Been 2 years now, not a single paint chip, so that has to account for something, and i still drive the same roads. I use to get blemish's in my tundra's paint from some tree sap and spattered bug guts. With the coating they just simply wipe off. No washing or waxing either. If you run your hand on the trucks surface, it feels like a hard shell like coating.

Anyone reading this. a ceramic coating will NOT!!!! stop chips. The coating will help with stopping bird droppings and bug guts from etching the paint it will help with tree sap from bonding and cleaning off easier. That is all the benefits of the coating. it will NOT stop chips. If your paint gets rock chips and is SOO much thicker than the 1-2micron of a coating. a coating will do nothing for chips.
Please stop telling people it will stop rock chips. What you are probably seeing is just the difference in paint of your old tundra vs your Tacoma and the size, shape all playing a part in the way a rock deflects off the paint that could lower the number of chips compared to another truck. This has ZERO to do with a ceramic coating. Also that dealer-installed one you have is probably the bottom of the barrel of a coating. I have seen so many tests that shows it fails in like 3months.

Those body shops are clueless. And at that price, why not just buy a new or used bumper cover and get that refinished?
Ceramic coatings will *not* cause issues with repairs provided the body shop isn't clueless and follows standard prep procedures.

I'm going to try touching up this area myself with a $60 kit. If I screw it up or can't get it right this is my next step.

She’s gorgeous, if you consider bringing back the life in your fender flares I highly recommend renew protect Blak, I used it on my 04 and it lasts years without needing a touch up. Damn good product. Just make sure to tape off paint, this shit will stain! Used it on tires and front valance too!

hmm I think I got hosed at the dealer.

They did the ceramic coating right after delivery "diamond kote" forget how much; $1500? iuno It was done about week after delivery.

    Auto Protection – Diamond Kote

Make sure if your spending that type of money it is from a reputable place where you can see some of their other work. I believe the work done on my truck was less then satisfactory otherwise I should be able to notice the quality/shine; I most definitely don't.

Also the annual check at the dealership, mine is free as long as it is done at the dealer that applied the coating; still I can imagine if you have a life or are busy may not be convenient

Imo, if they did the job right, a professional coating will add value to your vehicle down the road if a trade, or selling outright.

no it wont. I have traded in so many cars with Proper ceramic coating and said its clean and coated and they always say it doesnt matter they will buff it anyway. essentially making it worse than I traded it in and remove the coating from the hacks in the "detail" shop of the garage. I remember when I traded my mustang in the salesman came over and said how did you get it that way. Dont let our guys touch it cause they will fuck it up.

I just TW Ceramic Spray Wax every 6 months. Takes 30 minutes after a wash, cost $15, shines, and lasts a long time. Easy. All my cars have been very glossy all the way to their death or trade in.

How can it not, if the exterior is in mint condition vs one that has paint chips, and other issues with the trucks finish. When we traded in our trail blazer for a prius, the first thing they looked at was the vehicles paint, which had some issues.

You and your paint chips, and now resale value..
You are a purveyor in bad information, my friend.

I hope your other 4,000 posts weren't burned up delving out as much bad information as you've puked into in this thread.

Id like to know what your idea of Mint is. This was my 2010 GT that was MINT as there was not a swirl in the paint. Probably 20hrs of machine polishing and never went out in bad weather. It really didnt add ANY to the trade in value.JOND6547.jpg

I use Meguier's Hybrid Ceramic spray polish about every other car wash but don't bother in winter as the truck usually just gets dirty shortly after a wash anyways and water still beads up just fine.

Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.
I just bought the spray to try for grins & giggities but I started with the Hybrid Ceramic wipe on in the lime green bottle. This stuff is amazing! I applied it within the first couple weeks on my new truck and after 45 some-odd years of waxing my vehicles, I was grinning ear to ear with the ease of application and removal but most of all, the results!!

None of these are life long but they are so danged easy, it adds maybe 15 minutes to a detailed car wash. I'll just do it a few times a year.
