It sucks, and I feel for you man. My bottom line is to just move on. Trust me, she made it extremely easy for me. Her loss. All I lost was a nice house, a 98 T/A, and a bunch of stuff I acquired that made it difficult to move out.

Stupid predator steps. Mine has them. I was advised early on that getting them removed from the truck before deliver could be difficult. Just sucked it up. Figure I can remove and sell them, just like the stock wheels and tires.

Something I did just notice, mine has what looks like a hard tonneau. I thought it had a soft tonneau. I wasn't led to believe anything aside from it was bei g built with a bed cover.

I just logged on to Toyota and registered my temp vin. Everything that my salesman said was correct as far as accessories. Only thing mine comes with that’s not factory on the TRD off-road is the led bed light kit. Man getting closer and hearing and seeing some of you getting your trucks is getting me more excited.

So I finally got my VIN and plugged it in to the app to see what it showed. Build date was 1/24, but I'm not showing any mileage, fuel or tire pressure. How soon after build did that show up for you? I'm wondering if I'll only get updates that occur AFTER I activated Connected Services?

My contact at the dealer never responded to my request for the VIN...just happened to show up on Cars.com today but did not show on my dealership's website. I confirmed through the dealer's online chat that the truck is sold (to me) and the build date was 1/24. Same day my temp VIN went dead. They said it was waiting for a shipping update.

Gave the VIN to a buddy who works for Toyota and he checked their information and had never seen one without any tracking details. He said it only shows that it's in freight status. A little concerned since I'm not sure what to take away from that, but I'm assuming/hoping it's just taking awhile to get to port.

Does anyone know of an alternative for acquiring a permanent VIN outside of receiving it from the dealer?

My rep in GA has been extremely helpful and transparent (so far as I know) but is currently on paternity leave.

I’m not going to bother this cat when he’s got real life shit going on with his family but everyone else at this dealership is hot trash compared to him and says it’s still under temporary status.

I had a build date of 29JAN and my temp VIN (04 build week) went dead yesterday. Lol. I know what my rep’s peers are telling me but I also know from this thread that they’re wrong.

My dealer hasn't been very responsive so I randomly stumbled upon mine on Cars.com. It popped up yesterday. Kinda weird though because it's not on the Cars.com app and it isn't on my dealers website. I had a build date of 1/20 but my temp VIN went dead on 1/24. Once I had the real VIN I confirmed 1/24 was the actual build date so it did take a week or so to show up on any searches.

Was told that my trucks build date was yesterday 2/3. My owners app still says the same thing. Is there somewhere/ some other way I can check if it has updated?

My truck went to freight status on Dec 27th. I called my dealer last night and ETA got pushed a week to Feb 15-20.

Yes you need to activate connected services. My dealer actually asked me to do that the day I came in for financing a few days after build date. So that's the only way you will be able to get little pieces of info like when it gets started, gas, PSI, etc.

So ask them if they can start your connected services early. It actually helped me predict more accurately what my truck was doing than my salesperson.

I think we have decided it's dealer to dealer clout. Mine had no problem adding or removing anything I wanted - in fact, I removed like $1500 of port options. Other dealers acted like yours. I would think once it's on, not much they can do since it's port optioning. Your distributor is the one installing and making money off those, not your dealer. Could still ask, but not much leverage these days
