Could they also have been soaking down an area that was not on fire to keep it from becoming engulfed?

At least back in those days the population was not near as dense !

When things broke we figured it out or walked !

Sometimes the “out of gas” trick worked, sometimes not. :)

The old John Deere 14T baler was popular around here.

Dad had a New Holland super 68 growing up, he must have baled a million bales with that thing. I don't miss it.

Upgrading to a kicker baler was so great I remember a few times stacking wagons so high I had to take a few layers off to get in the Barn good old John Deere 2B with the exhaust manifold getting a nice glow.

Don't be. Don't go crazy, but one bottle in a 750-1500 gallon septic system won't hurt anything. Of course it's best to use the least nasty stuff you can, but if you have a bad clog, using one bottle of high-test drain cleaner is better than several bottles of mid-grade, but even then, it's not going to hurt a properly functioning system. Likewise, all those chemicals you can buy to "improve" the health of your septic system? Total waste of money. If you're really concerned, or you've just had your tank pumped and want to make sure things start okay, you can flush some sugar.

Some stuff had Sperry on it but I remember seeing mostly New Holland.

    This from wiki..

The original New Holland Machine Company was founded in 1895 in New Holland, Pennsylvania; it was acquired by Sperry Corporation in 1947, then by Ford Motor Company in 1986, and then by FiatAgri in 1991, becoming a full-line producer. In 1999, New Holland became a brand of CNH Global (NYSE: CNH), which was majority-owned by Fiat Industrial.

Aiight, now I've had some sleep and time to type a proper reply!

The house had sat for 8 months I'm guessing, so there's been a couple odd things. Need to do an air purge on the boiler here sometime, with both zones going you can definitely hear it. The shower/tub valve is a little fubar, makes some odd noises for sure. It used to do this water hammering thing, but that seems to have cleared up. The toilet is in dire need of replacing; it uhh, won't flush very well if you have anything other than Taco-Bell shits  There's some definite plumbing oddities and why the Hell don't plumbers strap the copper pipes! Well has plenty of pressure and the water softener works pretty good despite being older. Lot's of little stuff, BUT, it's all little stuff to be expected. Cut my commute by 20 minutes and no more up and over the mountain!

I did bring some hillbilly to the 'hood second day here. No food in the fridge, so I went and grabbed some steaks. Put the grill right infront. Beer in hand, watching traffic, and grilling steaks
