Lol with sport your wheels will be spinning in that crazy weather y’all just got, I can let you try it but really think normal or lite would be good. Both are a huge improvement over stock.

I wanted to go with Sport but he recommended Normal. Definitely touchy enough to notice a big difference but still very drivable in the city. I would go with Normal.

I'll probably just go normal then. I don't need to be too jumpy as long as the same potential is there with more foot pressure on the skinny peddle.

    Good deal thanks.

Mainly was seeing how everyone was recommending normal then the survey results and feedback comments started trending toward sport. I'm only going to be running 32s so I don't need super touchy peddle to overcome a bunch of unsprung weight.

Yes, you will still get the full benefits from the tune--HP and torque. The only thing changed with Normal vs Sport is throttle.
I agree that Normal throttle is your best bet.

I got Normal this past week, and the first time I drove it, the truck jumped, and then as I was turning I was squealing the tires. I feel normal is probably fine for most.

I'm scheduled to get the Kdmax Pro tune this Saturday. I have a 2022 SR5 DCLB automatic 4x4. The only mod I have performed is upgrading to 265/75R16 all terrain tires (so just shy of 32 inches). I do not plan on a lift or any larger tires. I plan on adding a camper top soon. I am considering maybe adding an aftermarket front bumper with winch and sliders someday, but otherwise no significant weight added to the truck at this time. I occasionally tow up to 3000#.

I too have been underwhelmed by the low end torque and the gear hunting.

I live in the mountains, and do a mix of freeway driving, country roads, and dirt/fire roads. No real plans to do gnarly rock crawling.

My local tuner recommended the lite throttle setting. I don't necessarily drive like a bat out of hell, but I don't drive like I just got out of church either.

I wonder what you all recommend? Hopefully my tuner will let me try lite and normal. I don't really think I'd want or need the sport setting.

Best thing is try them both. Start with Normal and go from there.

For sure try both. I think you will be happiest with the normal throttle. I have the normal version and it is the best of all worlds for me.

Test drive both for sure. You can always contact your tuner to change throttle settings if you feel like you want more or less. There is no charge to change throttle settings.

You are in the middle of these two guys.
They both travel for tuning events, so reach out to them when you are ready and see where they are going close to you.

I have a bilstein 6113/5160 lift, a RLD canopy, and 265/75s and started with normal on the KDMax Pro tune and couldn’t stand it haha. Backed off and went with “lite” and couldn’t be happier.

Have any of you that have gotten the KDMAX-PRO Tune for your Tacoma also got it for a Toyota 4runner? What was your experience with it on the 4Runner? My wife has a 2017 Toyota 4Runner Limited that I am interested in tuning. I tuned my truck and have been pretty happy. I know this is a Tacoma forum but people here typically seem pretty helpful. I've tried googling and can't seem to find any info..

I’m getting great feedback from the 4Runner customers that I’ve tuned. Put it this way, if KDMAX can take the turd gen from lousy to WOW, imagine how nice it would do on the (already solid) 4R platform. Do it!

The KDMax-Pro tuning group has tuned quite a few 4Runners and 2nd Gen Tacomas. We have gotten very positive feedback--"more power, fun to drive, feels lighter".
The 4Runners and 2nd Gen Tacomas are not as bad on the stock tune like the 3rd Gen Tacomas are, so the 3rd Gen Tacomas NEED to be tuned.
We have focused mainly on 3rd Gen Tacomas, but the 4Runner and 2nd Gen Tacoma KDMax-Pro tune is definitely an improvement over stock and worth the small price to get it.
