It would be great to have a heavy duty grille assembly that bolts onto the frame somehow, or gets welded on would be great too.

I'm just fielding your guys experiences with the current grilles for sale.

I hear Traegers are pretty heavy duty, can't imagine why you'd want to weld it to your frame though

I'm referring to the grille in front of the bumper. Not a cooking grille, but an armor grille.

Do you mean a brush guard? I don't think what you're referring to is the grill.

Do you mean a damage multiplier?

A brush guard may look tough but they cause more headache than their worth.

Even "armoured" winch bumpers have their limits and occasionally get destroyed by deer.

From his wordage I assumed he meant brush guard and not armored bumper since he said "in front of the bumper". Just trying to help him find the right words given the context clues :notsure:

Oh no you are absolutely correct in what OP is asking for, but brush guards are more commonly known as damage multipliers around here.

Oh for sure, not really a useful purchase by any means. That's exclusively mall crawler equipment in my book

Okay, um... I'm talking about the grille - the part of the Tacoma that is infront of the engine bay above the bumper.

Also those bumpers that you guys talk about are very bad for total collisions. Yes. However they do stop fender benders.

I want a grille / guard / bumper assembly is what I want in revised thought. All welded together protecting the vehicle and quarter panels as well.

I want one because they're awesome, and nobody has yet to make one that looks cool.

So you want something like this combination of ARB's bumper and rock sliders:

    upload_2022-2-15_9-6-27.jpg

    via https://arbusa.com/toyota-tacoma-2016-on/bumpers-protection-equipment/summit-bumper/

..... but you're looking at like $5000 if you install it yourself. Just my 2 cents that it's not worth cash like that to "look cool". If you're not taking the truck on trails that warrant the heavy duty armor I'd settle for a bash guard if it is for purely aesthetic purposes. If you went that heavy duty in the front you'd probably need stronger springs to support the weight, too.
