Facebook is also dealing with a massive culture war and has issue attracting younger users because of it. Young folks don't want to be on the social platform where boomers yell about their shitty ideals/politics when they could be having more fun on a platform the older audience doesn't really understand like TikTok or what have you. They're now fighting a war of attrition haha

    From the mouths of babes....

Really though he's right. Kids beyond a certain age don't want to be on the same social media site as their parents... and frankly Facebook's targeting motivations are design more for 18+ users too... but most of those under 25 aren't interested in staying in the trap, they recognize what it is.

I think Facebook has a shelf life, I hope we can learn lessons from it to apply to the next Facebook.

Having your first quarter of loss in daily active users isn't a good sign.

A lot of people I know that left FB have stayed on Instagram, though

Oh they will, it won't be us learning but those who design the features and algorithms will absolutely address what they missed this go around.

I think Tom was smarter to sell it off earlier though before it tanked completely.

Plus he was everyone's friend, MySpace wasn't evil... it just wasn't lasting... maybe that's because it wasn't evil.
