HT tires helped my MPGs by 1.5-2 around town. Which is a reason I refuse to upsize or go AT/MT tires, even though I want to. Tried TerraGrapplers 265/70/17 and Duratrac 265/60/18 still went back to stock 245/75/16 on my SR

I see 15 year round best I got was fall time mid 60s weather and I still only averaged 18.6 best. Rest of the year I’m closer to 15 mpg or less. 2.7 4x4 in 2wd. All of my driving is considered city, even with the highway trips their still too short to overcome the initial drop in MPGs to get up to speed.

I do lose 0.5 or less mpg with a brush guard on the front.

My fuel economy seems to just get lower and lower and lower over time. I'm convinced it has something to do with my tune. I'm going to reflash soon and whipe the engine learned values. My truck is a heavy pig with a four wheel camper in the bed. I'm getting 10-12mpg.

Hasn’t gotten any better. Gets noticeably worse in the winter. 265/70/17 c-load, drive gently and never gets any better. No other add-ons.
    Pretty disappointed.
My high mileage Denali gets better mileage that this Taco.

Fuel mileage really drops off on these 3.5 tacoma's when it gets around 0 or below. Its been the worst this winter from what i've noticed. At least its nowhere as bad as my 4.7 tundra....if it got 10 mpg in that cold it'd be a miracle.

I wouldn't trust the gauge that comes with the truck. (Esp. when you use remote start before you drive or if you drive short trips a lot.)

I have found only one factor that makes the difference in my 2017 Off Road getting 16 MPG versus 19 MPG:

Short drives around home (say 0-10 miles each trip) - I average 16 MPG.

Highway trips at fairly constant speed for 100+ miles at a time - I get between 18 - 19 MPG. And that's going between 75 - 80 MPH, but maintaining same speed for hours at a time.

If i do 70 mph or so in the summer, its an easy 23 mpg all day. Winter at freezing temps the same speed...lucky to see 20 and change. Around town its been just short of 19.

And winter gas sucks the hell out of MPGs. I drop 1.5 - 2 MPG driving exactly the same as with summer gas and warmer temps. I also never idle to warm up in winter as some people do. Start her up, put on seat belt and back out of garage. Drive gently for a mile or so which is the same as summer. I think the ECU makes the gas/air mix richer in cold temps, at least for the first few miles.

    Those two? No.

To actually answer your question since everyone is giving you snarky responses, things that do help are proper gears, a tune, and lighter tires. Drive light on the peddle.

Not sure the winter gas is to blame. I think its more to do with the longer warmups while guzzling more fuel needed to get up to their peak operating temp.

Wife's tire was flat this morning, apparently she ran over a screw driver, (phillips), and the shaft ended up inside the tire. She was in a hurry for work, I reluctantly let her drive my new Taco...

80 mi. round trip. I average 17 - 20 mpg, depending on speed. Her: 15.2......

She filled it up when she left. Maybe she got some bad gas at the station we always go to.....

Yeah, my wife has zero regard for mileage. She drives a 6cy Avalon and I get better MPG then she does. She powers full on to stop signs and lights, then hits the brakes to stop with a head snapping back force, and then is always the first off the line. She uses the brake peddle to slow down on the highway instead of easing off the gas. I've tried, but I guess her old habits are too imbedded.

Best I got on a tank with absolutely no heavy acceleration and flat land cruise control set at the speed limit was 24 MPG. I don't expect anything more than that.

Just got 21.1 MPG on my way into work today. 24°F and about 50 miles of driving. However, I did warm it up first. That helps significantly vs just starting it and going.

If I just start and go, the trip MPG will be around 17 MPG on that same trip. After warming up the ECU adjusts and the trip MPG is much higher. Keep in mind I use remote start so the truck shuts off between the warming up and actual drive, giving the trip meter a chance to read the trip for what it is.
