Not sure about quality or sound but just be sure to check and double check fitment if you're going to leave your stock cubby holds.
I had to remove the grill and notch the bottom section and also notch the back of the passenger back seat for it to and latch closed.

Hey everyone, I'm looking to add the Kicker Key 200.4 and the Kicker Hideaway 8" (I've already upgraded all of my speakers and have a 2020 OR w/o JBL)
I have a few questions from you folks who may have already treaded into these waters as I don't have much car audio experience (I've been following/read the whole thread, would just like some clarification from people who know better than me )

    1. Is there sufficient room behind the head unit for the 200.4? I see reference to the 180.4 being able to fit in the console behind the HU, but I'm unsure about the 200.4
    2. Any tips for mounting the hideaway under the passenger front seat? I think the driver's side is out since it is powered.
    3. Below is the wiring diagram I'm going to reference for the wiring - is this how you'd integrate both systems? Or is there another, better way to wire this?

    4. Can I feed both amps off the same wiring to the battery? (One attachment to the battery)
    5. Below is the shopping list of everything I'd be purchasing - am I missing anything?
    • Burrito Tune's 2020 Tacoma Add-an-amp (I should be able to splice off this to feed the
    • Kicker Hideaway
    • Kicker 200.4
    • Power Cables x2 (for 200.4 and Hideaway)
    Thank you all in advance!!

The Kicker Key 200.4 and the Key 180.4 are exactly the same size.

Have you had a chance to do this? I’m unsure how to mount my kicker amp behind my HU. I don’t like the idea of it just free-floating and heating up back there.

It fits behind the radio. I ended up replacing my headunit because of some white noise I got from the high level input from the factory entune radio.

The amp doesnt get hot enough to melt wires or plastics, atleast in my experience. You also could build a bracket to go across the cross member behind the radio.

Did this work ? Did you get signal to amp turn on from just one front speaker wire ?

I haven’t installed the Hideaway yet - with upgraded speakers (JBL concert series and the subaru tweeter upgrade) I haven’t felt the need for much more bass… and I don’t really know where I’d put the hideaway. I fed the wires for the key amp to under the driver’s seat and it works great there (just mounted it to a block of wood and set it underneath).

Everything else worked though - I may still try to get an extra subwoofer due to door/plastic rattle from really high bass, but I just don’t know where I’d put it.

Happy to answer any other questions!

I put kicker KS series in the doors and Subaru tweets. Ordered my amp harness yesterday. I built a box for 10" kicker CVT in my 2nd gen, behind drivers rear. I don't want to give up storage on my 3rd gen and have been researching 8" hide away that will fit under passenger front. It looks like it will fit. May have to do some seat spacers. I may mount amp under drivers seat for easy access.

Yeah, I have had to tweak my settings a few times on the key amp and under the driver’s seat has been pretty easy access. It’s so easy to remove the radio though that I think you could go either way and be ok. Under the driver's seat works ok for me without spacers, but if you move your seat (I have a 2020 with the powered seat) it may rub/slide.

You should report back after you install your hideaway! I’d love to do it, I just haven’t yet because of the space concerns. Good luck!

May be a dumb question but I plan on cooying your setup.. what are the x2 power cables? Do you need to order them separate from the amp and sub?

Having some experience with installs, I’ll help.

Get some 8ga power wire and connect it to the battery and run it into the cab. Get a small distribution block with the proper maximum amp fuses for each. Connect the Key and the hideaway subs’ power to the correct output of the fuseblock. That is assuming it’s a powered sub.

Keep all wires from sharp edges, running the power wire into the cab through the big grommet by the brake booster. As well use some wire loom in the engine compartment to protect the power wire, tying it securely to existing wiring with zip ties.

If it seems like a lot, remember, it’s a direct connection from an 800A power source into your cab. Your truck can burn down if your not careful. I don’t mess around with stuff like that.

Knukoncepts is my go to brand. I look for OFC copper power and ground cables for best power flow. CCA wire is aluminum, and does get brittle over time. They also have distribution blocks and fuses as well.

I currently only have the single power cable and I’m only running 14 AWG and running down through the door sill and under the seat. Works good. When/if I add the subwoofer I’ll likely use another power cable and run it to the passenger side. I bought a “Boss” kit off Amazon for pretty cheap - plenty of cable, seemed to be pretty nice quality!

Cheap amp kits are usually a smaller amount of wire than advertised. If it says its an 8 awg kit its usually a 10 awg kit with more plastic instead of wire.
