$0...but it wasn't an option in the poll.

Cash is king, and Dave Ramsey is my financial savior! It took two years to put the money in the bank and only 5 minutes to empty it, but my '11 Tacoma is paid for after one payment.

LOL .. retire FTW! I'm trying to talk my wife into it as well. She's the lucky one who loves and thrives in her career. Mine's just another job. I've offered to be her personal cook and sex slave. I think she prefers her vibrator and takeout. :D

As for what payment to take .. the answer is whatever you can safely afford. The keyword is "safely". Always leave yourself a cushion in life if you want to avoid hard landings.

As an example, I knew I could get away with as high as $700/mo. I took a payment of $459 and I pay an extra $100/month towards principle for an early payoff. And if I were to need that extra money, I can always back off. I do the same with my mortgage. If you have to really think about whether or not you can afford it, you probably can't. These financial times are uncertain times ... play it safe. God I sound like an old man. See what happens when you turn 40?

Awesome! That's the way to do it!. I started listening to him about 2 yrs ago and learned alot. His advice is really simple and sometimes obvious but it helps hearing from someone else. Trying to do the same for my wife's car later this year.

My payment is a little over 500 per month. I don't know how much cause I usually just round it up to 600 and sometimes if the cash is laying around I add another hundred to pay it down a little quicker.

After one year of financing at 5.25% with TFS, I refinanced with Pentagon Federal at 2.99%. Figured that'd save me some coin over the long run :)

I pay $280 for my 5lug base model. I wanted a TRD, but because I couldn't afford a big monthly payment I had to go with 2.7L. Doesn't have the power, but I still love my truck!

It's all relative. While payment is an important factor, it is more important to focus on paying the absolute lowest price for the vehicle and lowest interest rate possible. Some focus on payment alone and get caught up paying too much for a vehicle after they get tricked by the finance office...

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
I paid 473.00 when I bought in 05', thank god I don't have that anymore. Then it was no problem, almost 2 kids later, no way I could afford that now.

x2. There are many factors such as your credit score, how much you are financing and how soon you want to pay it off etc.

No kidding. I think salesmen and sales managers pop wood when someone comes in wanting to buy a truck/car and tells them they "want to keep the payments under $xxx.xx". They can sure do that, but your end price will be horrendous, and the dealership will have made a killing on you!

$888.00 a month.:D 0% financing. i have enough in my account to cover 2/3 of the truck now, but since no interest i just let it draft. i agree with the cash idea if it all possible though. needed a truck and didn't have time to raise the funds first. couldn't have done it without that interest deal. will save about 8K by the time its payed for.
