You want the check valve to allow air to flow from the compressor towards the tank, and block it from going from the tank to the compressor.

If you haven't already read up on assembling a train horn system, you might want to look for some builds on Google.

Pay attention to common parts used and where they go. Various build authors might even discuss why certain parts like check valves are important.

One more question sorry. I feed the braided line with the check valve directly from the compressor to the tank? Because I want to mount the compressor under the hood to the tank which will be under the bed of the truck. Do I need to find another braided leader that’s much longer to reach the tank? Thanks.

No, you should be able to run the braided line to a splitter "T" or a small manifold where you then add the push connect fitting and plastic air tube to the tank.

Then you could have an air chuck plumbed from the other output of the "T" for airing up tires and such.

But wouldnt the air chuck benefit more if connected to the tank instead? The way you described it made it sound like it would just run from the compressor.

    and do you mean these?

it shows 1/2 but it should be 1/4 od and npt I think.

Personally, I have braided lines throughout my entire setup. I don't want to chance melting something along the way.

Compressor is mounted in the engine bay, tank is behind driver's side taillights, and QD is by my license plate. The braided lines help cool the hot air down. By the time it's leaving through the QD fitting, it's barely warm (for the length of time I have ran it at least).

    My parts list:
3 meter braided line (to run from compressor to tank, just long enough to reach) - ARB0740206 (2x)
Adapter (to connect hoses together, comes with 2) - ARB0740102 (1x)
1.5 meter braided line (to run from tank to QD) - ARB0740204 (1x)
    QD - ARB0740111 (1x)
ARB Tank (kind of small but it works well, it's aluminum, and it comes with two 45° fittings) - ARB171601
¼ NPT "T" (any that can support the PSI)
Hotblasters electronic drain kit (single tank - to drain condensation and wired up to my Switch Pro as a momentary switch)

While I don't expect you to copy my setup at all, the lengths and parts should help you decide on what will work for your setup.

The check valve just needs to be somewhere between the compressor and the tank. It can be mounted at tank for sure.

And yes, those parts are correct.

Ok I’m having trouble finding long braided line. I want my compressor in the engine bay and the tank where the spare tire is under the bed. Anyone know where I can find like 30 feet of braided air line?

Unless you are just using the braided line for fun, you certainly don't need to use that long of a piece.

I ran 3/8ID nylon tubing from my ARB locker manifold to all three air chucks I installed on my truck.

The heat from the compressor output is only super hot for a bout 6" of my braided tube header that feeds my locker manifold.

Oh really? I’d much rather do that.

    but isn’t the compressor 1/4 and not 3/8 ?
So I can have a braided line leader then attach the plastic air tubing to it to the tank? I called Arbusa and they said it’s better to use a long braided line. Hopefully he’s wrong.

have any pics of your set up? Thanks.

Full length braid might be better for maybe a small fraction of reasons, but not significant enough for my use, or yours.

You already have the Viair black line and push connect parts in your Amazon cart, use that.

The braided line isn't something you cut to length, so you are either hoping to find exactly the length you need, or end up too long/short.

If down the road you decide to change up to braided line for the full length, you could pull out and measure your black line used and go from there.

As for ARB being 1/4" and I'm using 3/8", this was my way of reducing the air flow restriction to the rear of the truck due to the distance. It's easy enough to step up from 14" to and size above that.

ok great. I’ll just use the braided leader suggested by the other member yesterday and use the air line you suggested. Thank you!

You mean the braided line with the check valve I recommended in post #58?

Oh god I just realized how dumb this sounded lol.

Quik question. The leader you recommended which part goes into the compressor? The side with or without the check valve? Thanks
