I mean he's still doing rich people stuff so it's not wrong :D But yes a lot of the outrage surrounding it isn't entirely warranted

At first I wondered how that's possibly cheaper than just finding another route, but then I remember its Bezos we're talking about and money doesn't matter

I thought you were getting 12mpg?

The 4R got about 15mpg so per month, that comes out to $80/month in gas usage.

Insurance is cheaper so I'm not spending as much on gas in the end as I thought I would.

No I get roughly 13.5 around town, little better on the highway. Though I've never done a 100% accurate estimate given the larger tires but it's not quite as bad as 12

I'm sure I won't fair much better once I step down in tire size and lift, but if I got 14mpg I'll be stoked.

yeah it's a heavy ass SUV built in the last decade of "we don't give AF about MPGs" so I wouldn't expect it to be very good lol.

I'm trying to figure out the logistics of it, out of curiosity.

It's an absurdly large boat, ad as far as I can tell it's being built at this shipyard: https://www.google.com/maps/@51.859159,4.6534078,1197m/data=!3m1!1e3

Being an inland shipyard, there isn't a lot of choice about how to get to open water. The confusing part is that there's another bridge between the shipyard and the bridge that everyone is making a fuss about. I don't see how they're going to navigate that. I guess they're raising the masts somewhere between the two bridges... but then why not go past the next bridge before raising them?

I don't care about Bezos, but my engineer-brain is ticking.

I saw the arch and assumed it was fixed.

Sneaky them, putting the lift span off to the side.

Movable bridges are sneaky like that.

Especially the ones that spin in the middle, was looking at one of those this morning.
