I'm sure you have no idea about their individual situations, but one big issue right now is unnecessarily delayed treatment. People with progressively worsening symptoms after 48 hours of initial symptoms need to demand monoclonal antibodies. They have this 10 day window process right now that can be WAY too long of a wait for someone that it experiencing symptoms. Here sit around for another week and then maybe we'll treat you...

We are at the point now where we have many effective treatments.
Were they delta cases? Delta has a statistically significant poorer outcome with present monoclonal antibody treatments, However overall extremely significant better outcomes overall with MCA treatments. Interesting study the Mayo Clinic just released. Nearly 49% of the participants in the Delta study were fully vaccinated already and still progressed to the point of qualifying for MCA.
