the dealership i ordered through told me if i finance through them they'll give me the same rate and they get 1%. So I'm going to go in and ask for $1000 in accessories added on to my truck or I'm going to finance through my credit union. I can't get money off MSRP but they'll make $1000 off that 1% and I know them accessories will cost them a hell of a lot less than that

Anybody ever try to deal with an out of state Costco dealer? Wondering if you can still get the discount out of state.

Thinking of trying to branch out of my state and possibly in to the bordering ones who are in a different allocation “region.”

Anybody really want to deal with a creepy dealership that has an allocation for a lime green in Utah? They just contacted me and sent a form showing every single add-on (including the effing LoJack system) and a $5000 add on. So $9000 above sticker for a bunch of shit. Then she berated me when I said I didn’t want all of the dealer installed options. I think Tacomaworld should let everyone know what they think of this dealership with a few reviews on Google and yelp and other places and perhaps a message to them letting them know you also won’t be doing business there. But if anyone actually wants to pay 10k over sticker let me know and I’ll tell you where it is before I tell her to piss off and she still is thinking she can con me so is holding it right now.

This is the actual communication from a salesperson at a Toyota dealership using a Toyota issued email address. I’m absolutely baffled. How does Toyota corporate let this stuff continue to go on?

    Start copied email:

I understand you may not need some of the dealer add ons. I wish I could speak to you on the phone. Its much easier. Not only will we be selling our Tacoma PRO with the adds shown, but there will also be a Paint Protection similar to Clear bra on the front end, as well as tint. I understand you may not wish to purchase these items, they will be sold with our PRO. There will also be an Adjusted Market Value of $5,000 added onto the price. I know its not easy to hear we are adding these things, but we are. As I mentioned, our PRO will be sold with these add ons, it is much easier to hear than to read. You can choose not to purchase our PRO, but that is how it will be sold. Are you still interested?

    Thanks,

Total price with tax, title, license…. Nearing $65,000. WTAF?! My 2012 Pro was almost the same truck and was $32,500 + TTL. What has the world come to?

She’s not wrong. But she lied from the get go and is upset that I am deaf. That way I ended up with it in writing. She keeps saying it’s easier on the phone…. Why? Because they can lie about it and try to talk people into things. There is some serious narcissism going on there.

If you want it stamos then let me know. I’ll delete my posts and send you the build sheet and VIN and her name and number so you can reserve it. I am happy to help out with anyone who wants it. I’m just not going to be the one getting ripped off… and everyone knows what they will be doing going in because I took the boot to the ass of dealing with them to find it. This has been months in the making and this is what they come up with. Hilarious.

I hear your point. But a 2022 Pro isn’t almost the same as the 2012 (assuming you were saying that for impact). However, over msrp by that much is ridiculous. Any dealer I talked to doing a LoJack or a gps I didn’t even ask for their inventory.

When I put my money down to hold my allocation they came back with over 2000 of dealer add ons, paint protection, interior protection, glass etching and some other theft deterrent thing. I said no and the salesman said we do this to all our vehicles but I will talk to the manager. He came back and said it must’ve my lucky day because they were letting me purchase it without the add ons. Doesn’t mean they won’t try again. I sure hope they honor our signed ( not binding I am sure) agreement.

Option wise? I got a TRD TX Pro which was THE top of the line (it was a Baja without the reservoirs on the shocks, so yes… the top of the Toyota line and also the Pro model for that model year… in my book… they are equivalent vehicles of different years… yes it didn’t have a surround camera system, but nothing else did either).

Where in the Toyota app would I see the build date? Mine show the order date currently and was supposed to be built on 2/2.

Last 6 of your temporary VIN. The first two digits of that will be the build week for this year.
Would look like this, 02A383. The 02 is the build week.

You will know your exact build date if you check the temp VIN every day in lookup portal, and the day it throws an error, that's the build date.

I've discovered that in each state one or two toyota dealers will still sell at msrp no markup. Typically those dealerships also have like three times the inventory too. I have a feeling toyota corporate "rewards" those dealers with better and more frequent inventory.

For example. McDonald Toyota in Greely only charges msrp and currently has 265 cars 18 4runners 11 tacomas

Pederson in fort collins charges 5k over msrp and has 53 cars 3 tacomas 4 4runners

    35 miles of separation

Completely understand. Picking mine up tomorrow afternoon after work. Going to be the longest day of the year for me thus far.

Looks like McDonald has everything they have coming in on their site, you can see a few with temp VIN's on there. I know Groove takes them all off the second they get on the site to minimize calls but I have seen 30+ on there before they took them off. Mine was there one day then has never been on Autotrader or their site ever since so I think it's however the dealer displays or doesn't display their inventory more than allocation.

Sold: '19 TRD OR - It will always be in my heart.
This same kind of thing happened to me last year with a Nevada dealership. $7K markup for my state, and they said that I was lucky, because if I'd been from California, it would be a $10K markup. All in a very nice friendly tone.

At the end of the day, I went with a different brand. I was able to drive a manual and an automatic back to back. Bought exactly what I wanted at 5% below invoice. That was 2021 though. Not sure if I could get away with that this year. I don't miss my 2019 Tacoma, but apparently I miss how active this forum is :)

Oh… for those who care. I forgot to mention I’m deaf. I thought I had said it in this thread. But didn’t. The Utah guys know… and the salesperson above knows… yet she kept saying that it would be better if I could hear her. WTF? Am I just reading that wrong? I have to read everything. She knows that but keeps saying the problem here is that I can’t hear her on the phone…. Mmmmmmwhat?
