I don't know the process for a two piece D.S. A quick search for alignments should prove worthy though.

On a single piece, you want the centerline outlet of the transmission to be parallel to the centerline outlet, of the third-member. Make sense?

    thanks @rheath08 and @Torspd
so busy working 2 jobs i hardly have time to get educated on this topic let alone fix. id do a double cardan joint but if im going to spend money im kinda set on the simplicity of a single shaft. then i keep my stock one as back up. i am aware these can only spin so fast before raising hell and understand the consequences. been told this shop has the best tools. is there a runout tolerance i can insist on? or is balanced....balanced.
two more questions- what are the bolt hole sizes at the pinion and output? should i buy new u-joints or assume mine are fine?

But then I need a fuel pump and if I'm putting more fuel in it I might as well ......... it's a slippery slope :D

I do have to go back to the first post and do some reading though. Seems like there are several things I should do now while it's off the truck.

its just easier. i did mine in truck like most. then you dont worry about shavings in your engine bay. the fuel pump DOES need changing sooner than you think. great prep to start with. we can get you into long tube headers later.

I'm really considering doing the pump now but quick reading and it looks like a PITA. Probably won't cut the snout though because I will doubt I'll go down to a 2.8.

In terms of long tube headers, I need to talk to someone who knows a thing or two about smogging here. 10 or so years ago I had gutted precats and anti foulers but was still running the factory main cats. There's no sniff test here, just plug it in and search codes along with a visual.

2.7 is a nice sweet spot. yes, the pump swap isnt much fun but service after is under 10$ and 10 min.

11mm bolts on all the studs for the driveshafts. if i recall the pattern is 66mm x 66mm.
they will balance the driveshaft after any repair or new build. the double cardigan can be added to your existing driveshaft for less than a new shaft. I had a driveshaft shortened and new carrier bearing installed when installed the RC62F, it think it was about $250 ish.

To my knowledge the 2nd gen pattern is all the same, at least for the 4x4 and pre-runner. But best to see what the professionals say.

2.8 pulley will not need the snout shaved down. I highly recommend ditching the 3.00 pulley and bolting on a 2.8 before you install the blower.

You're going to want the fuel pump upgrade down the road regardless of pulley size.

Alright, first off, I'm going to apologize for the noob post but I'm hoping you all can provide some feedback for me. It's my understanding that the ecu can only be reflashed once so here's what I'm thinking for the supercharger install.

I live at 4,500 ft and my driving is between sea level and 9,000 ft, FWIW. Truck is a 2012 and the smog pump has not been deleted.

    1. Quick change pulley: 2.8 to start...URD or should I be looking at other options?
    2. Long tube headers: URD Uspec or something else? Do I need the RB-2 added? I have no idea what that is and it's not addressed on their site.
    3. Y pipe: not sure what to go with here...open to recommendations.
    4. Fuel pump: no plans to run E85, what pump should I be considering?

@stickyTaco you're at what, 4000+ ft elevation in Reno? If your truck is going to stay up there you can run a 2.7" pulley on the stock fuel pump. That's what I'm doing in Salt Lake and it's been perfect.

Yup, house is at 4,500 ft.

I tow an off-road trailer (3,500lbs) between sea level and 9,000ft and want to make sure I'm not running it lean. Also, heat is a concern since a lot of the lower elevation towing in in Death Valley/Mojave. Still think 2.7 will be okay?

Oh yeah, if you're down in there then you'll definitely need the pump upgrade with a 2.7.

If you plan to run any sort of exhaust options which will open up the breathing then you DEFINITELY need to go with a smaller pulley to keep you in the proper boost range.
