Plugs for Front License Plate Holes

Hey everyone,

Not sure if there are many topics on this but when I picked up my Tacoma, the dealership went ahead and drilled into my front bumper for the license plate. I am not a fan of the front plate in any of my cars so I found these plugs at my local Auto Zone for a couple dollars which were a pretty solid match. Just had to clean up the bumper holes slightly from whatever drill they used and looks good as new! Sorry for the crappy pics!

 

Idk if your state requires you to have a front license plate or not. I’m in NM now and don’t need to have the plate up front but when I was residing in TX I needed to have it.

That is a good solution though. I can’t even notice they were plugged up.

 

Those jerks drilled into mine also. Not long after I did the same thing.

 

My state requires plates on the front and back. I did use galvanized washers, so there is no rust after 6 years.

 

Subaru dealership did that on my previous vehicle. I was pissed. I don't care if my License plate goes there or not, there are holders designed for factory holes and these tools drilled straight into the bumper. My taco came with a holder, a nice one. Was pretty happy.

 

Be thankful they drilled the holes straight. When we bought my wifes Forester, the doorknob drilled them crooked so the plate hangs crooked. Bugs me every time I look at it, but not enough to fix it. If it was my Tacoma, it would have been fixed the same day

 

Nj does require but I noticed that a lot of police here don’t really care for it in my experience.

 

Funny thing is that I plugged it up the very next day because it was too late when I brought it home from the dealership LOL

 

Any new vehicle that I ever bought I told them that if they drilled the bumper (PA does not require a front plate) I would refuse the vehicle.

 

California requires them but I've never put a front plate on and never had anybody say anything

 

Same goes for the dealership sticker on the tailgate.

 

Required I’m MA. I like it as it breaks up the look and I like reading them as cars pass. I use nylon color matching screws (white plates).

 

For those with painted bumpers, you can also get white plugs from Lowes in different sizes. Then, lightly sand and hit with touch up paint.

 

I am with you on that one. Did that once already on a previous vehicle but this time around, I flew out to Virginia to pick the Tacoma up.. Was not looking to go back empty handed after all the time I spent searching lol

 

How shocking, the government doesn't do anything about it's citizens breaking the law. That's one helluva state you got there.

 

That's a pretty good match. Too bad I have to have a front license displayed

 

Sure is. San Diego weather and the plethora of motocross tracks and OHV areas is the only thing of value this state has left to offer.
