Set a trailing stop if you'd like. I'm intending to remain LONNNNNG like life into retirement on this one. Once the dividend is back and I'm holding 2,000+ shares...I'll be getting a nice stipend..

HOWEVER...IF tech were to continue crashing and go into the shitter I would probably sell 1/2 to roll into tech and capture the recovery..

Question for the group, are y’all tracking returns and comparing against the market return overall? Trading seems so complicated compared to just dumping money in VTSAX. I automatically buy $5k and literally never look at it.

But anything nuclear like Chicago and New York I try to avoid

I have never heard of anything related to "Less than 35 trades" unless maybe you have a fee schedule related to volume of trades or # of contracts...
Less than $25K in the account is the day trader ceiling...other than that...nada

 

Yes. Of course. I haven’t had a year yet where my active trading hasn’t easily outpaced my passive accounts. But I keep a lot more in those passive ones. Your method is definitely a good one if you don’t want to deal with the hassle. I just enjoy it.

The under 35 trades thing was a lot more common 10+ years ago before $0 commissions were a thing among most brokers. At least for the avg joe trader. If you traded under, say 35 trades a quarter, you would be charged a higher commission per trade. Or for example with Etrade, when they had a good etrade pro platform, you were required to trade over 35 trades a quarter to get Etrade Pro gui for free. Else it was $99 a quarter.
