I do love the dissonance in some of these requests... like my tacoma gets 300 miles range (barely). It takes me 5 mins to fill it up, but costs me nearly $100 to do so. I would take a 18 min fill up for $20 any day...

Well it would be even cheaper home charging it.

It's akin to a muscle car enthusiast participating in a Prius forum. I just don't get it.

Not replacing my rig for a while, but a PHEV Taco would be nice.

True, probably like $3-8 depending on battery and your utility rates. Even better is the free charging on Electrify America that some vehicles are coming with these days.

I'd actually prefer a hybrid Taco over a PHEV or EV at this point, but only if it could still tow a reasonable amount. I notice that some of the hybrid variants have lower tow ratings than their non-hybrid version.
My concern with the PHEV's is that they haven't produced too many that can travel a reasonable distance and speed in EV. I think the latest Rav4 is the best so far. I could be mistake and hope someone will correct me.
We considered the Prius Prime but settled on the Prius because we couldn't justify the EV only benefit for the price premium.

Plug in Hybrids only make sense if you really charge them every night. Driving around a PHEV with it uncharged is like lugging 500-800 lbs dead weight. Most don't have speed limits anymore, but their highway range is pretty bad. You do get the tax credits for PHEVs still too

OP question: "What do you all think of the concept EV tacoma? " Respectfully, I didn't see the OP looking for "Yes Men", it seemed to me he wanted discussion. Discussion generates debate. I encourage you, again respectfully, to start a new thread about "How excited are you for the new EV Tacoma?" or something similar.

In that case, the new EV Tacoma is a concept that won't be out for 3-5 years... In that time I bet Toyota will get the charging speed up, battery chemistry better, and it will launch as a middle of the road offering. Not the best, but probably with good value and a solid contender.

    Well :p considering I have a 16 Taco and a 21 R4P in the driveway... R4P is rated for 2500 lb towing. Taco's rated for 6k.

40 miles is pretty good in EV and it's definitely got the bang for the buck when it comes to EV range (Ford is pretty close but FWD only) with Hyundai/Kia right behind.

The lux brands all have 20ish miles.

No such thing as a free lunch yada yada...

But yeah VW, Hyundai, and BMW and others are all offering a couple years of free charging...

Could be a smart play financially if one assumes that rates will increase over time?

I guess if it's timed right, you could save some money or get it for free.

Won't your grandkids be paying for it? :D

Yeah I think it's just an incentive to sell more cars now... Don't imagine utility rates will go up too much, but who knows.

Depends on the generation source and carbon taxes, I'd imagine.
