I have 3 different documentation systems, 2 different source control systems, both of which also contain documentation.

I bet there is an integration to cross-link your documentation platforms and sync your source control. You should start on that immediately :luvya:

I was working on a project at work last week and was on a text message group with other people here at work. One of the girls asked if it was a good time to go take lunch, someone said yes, so she texts back "Ok I'm lesbian now"

pretty sure she meant "leaving now" or maybe it was a weirdly timed coming-out-to-your-coworkers, I dunno

That's a fortunate one to be able to blame autocorrect on it if it was a Freudian slip of the truth lol

Not the worst accidental coming out story, anyways

So, I've been having issues with my built Bussmann on some specific circuits (most notably, my hi-beam headlights, which I really want to work for my long trips). I figured that I should just upgrade everything to larger wire size, mostly to eliminate the possibility of that I'm overloading the 14ga wire (I don't think I am, nothing that is on for an extended period of time is drawing more than 10A, but I don't mind bigger wire and I have the parts, so I'm just going to eliminate that as an issue).

Anyway, step one was opening up the Bussmann and pulling all the relays and fuses. When I did, I noticed that parts of it - certain pins, essentially - had gotten so hot as to melt the plastic around them. Dang.

    upload_2022-2-4_12-22-21.jpg

Of course, the Bussmann is supposed to be "weatherproof" and Sandman614 did a perfectly good job using all the right rubber plugs, etc. but my guess is that one of two things happened, causing some of the connections/contacts to become "loose" and thus heat up as current passed through them:
    1. Bits of dirt/dust got in there
    2. Constant bouncing on dirt roads just caused the connections to loosen.

So, I picked up a new, empty Bussmann (since it's about 20x cheaper than getting the SwitchPro I really want, and won't require me to rewire the entire truck) and am going to put it together. My question is this:

How do I prevent this in the future? Rather, how do I ensure really good clean connections between the fuses/relays and the female pins that are in the fuse block? Is there something I can squirt in there? I though dielectric grease, but then read that it's actually an insulator...so now I'm confused). Obviously I can't do anything about the bouncing, but if I can end up in a situation where I fill the joints with something that can help, I bet it'd go a long way to solving the problem.

    Thanks!

Ah I see. Radiant heat sounds amazing

For extra fun, try taking a few dev groups that have evolved independently and then ask them to work together and oh-by-the-way the stakeholders would really appreciate only having to look in one system for planning and progress tracking purposes.

Or maybe that's how you got to where you are.
