Crystal ball shows you @turbodb @Blackdawg @Digiratus crossing this bucket list trip off the list soon

To clarify, not the named trip you shared but a cross UK road trip

We had this guy who was like the innovation champion guy and managed to build a team outside of most of the normal rules and systems. They have their own lab their own git service their own ci system etc

He recently retired, his position is going away, and now they’re getting assimilated into the normal engineering group that works on much more mission critical products. It’s going to be a mess.

Another successful Vermont to Nevada registration for the LC.
4Runner will have to wait another 2 weeks, I couldn't get a movings permit in time for a smog.

There are obvious benefits to freedom and autonomy.

There are obvious benefits to consistency and resource pooling.

Let me know if you find the answer. I'll write the forward to your bestselling book.

The bouncing theory sounds best to me, I’ve seen it melt battery terminals.

dielectric grease might help it stay clean, and yeah it is an insulator, but I would expect the spring contacts to wipe it clean where needed.

Would it be possible to mount the whole box on some sort of vibration isolation material?

Yep agreed. We have found the uncanny valley overshadowed by both. It’s GREAT.

I deal with industrial equipment (concrete cutting tools) that is subject to alot of vibration during use as well as horrible concrete slurry. We slather the blades of our relays in dielectric grease to help prevent the exact issue you've described. Although, yes, it is an insulator, so long as the blade connection is a tight fit from the get-go, the grease will be displaced from the contact points when the connection is made and the grease then acts as an insulator from outside elements like dirt and acid intrusion (in the case of battery terminals)

I don't think it is dangerous but certainly has drawbacks im sure.

Pretty impressive performance for a setup though and you don't need coilovers to be linked...

@turbodb the best thing to prevent vibration issues with your electronics is to mount a solid plate to where you want the fixture, then use vibration dampening isolators between the plate and your box just like @0xDEADBEEF mentioned. For our diesel units that have very sensitive computers we use these from McMaster Carr, haven't had a failure yet

Yeah, that is super cool... I mean dangerous as in if one of the mounts lets go it looks like the spring will shoot into something hard.
