I am new to this forum and a brand new 2020 Tacoma owner.

I purchased this beauty using Copart auto auctions.

    IMG_0440.jpg IMG_0442.jpg IMG_0443.jpg

Got it home, a assessed the situation.

    IMG_5517.jpg

So far here is what needs replacement:

All airbags (by far the most expensive things to replace compared to everything else)
Headlights (they look ok in the pictures, but the tabs were broken)
    Front Grille Assembly
    Front Bumper Cover
    Bumper metal brackets and guides
    Lower Grille
Driver side fog light and the plastic bezel
    Front Bumper Absorber, and
Bumper Trim/Valance (still looking for this in the same color).

Most of the parts are purchased/ordered and are on the way. All in all, this baby should be back on the road in no time. It will be my daily vehicle probably for the next 10 years, maybe more.

Excited to be a part of this community.

Definitely time to take advantage of all the cool aftermarket stuff available. Plus OEM usually has multiple pieces to the bumper where a/m may have only a few.

Not sure if you have done airbags before. You will need more than just the bag modules. May need the control module, sensors, headliner, seat belts and buckles, etc. it does get costly.

    Nothing major yet.
Once your done could you make a price breakdown? I’d be interested to see what you’ll end up having into it.

It depends on what you mean by "aftermarket." If you mean the aftermarket plastic bumper, there are plenty of OEM parts out there because our Taco owners are always customizing and upgrading.

However, replacing the bumper for an entirely steel/metal one would take a hit on my MPGs. This will be my daily car. Most of the miles will be on the highway. Investing in a full steel/metal bumper doesn't make sense to me.

I have considered buying something like this (DV8 Offroad FBTT1-05) https://www.amazon.com/DV8-Offroad-...=1644020303&sprefix=dv8+tacoma,aps,148&sr=8-3

This would go in place of the valance and eliminate the need for both the valance and the impact absorber.

Decisions will have to be made. Some things are still up in the air.

Thanks. I have someone guiding me through the process who has done it before. I appreciate your input.

In addition to everything you mentioned, I have to buy an entire dashboard because the passenger airbag blew. I found a seller through car-parts.com selling almost everything I needed as a package deal (wheel airbag, driver knee airbag, passenger knee airbag, dash airbag, dash, seatbelts with assembly, and module). The curtain airbags I bought separately. I still need to purchase the airbags that go into the seats.

    I'll keep this thread updated.

    Well….

    Process as of today.

Picked up OEM headlights. $200 for the pair.

The metal brackets behind the grill have been installed.

    The curtain airbags are in.

OEM plastic bumper came in along with the lower grill. I also ordered the grill assembly, and got the DV8 off-road bumper.

Also, going through what was left in the vehicle I found the original sticker.

    And all the manuals.

Finally, the previous owner was a fan of Toby Keith. I found a receipt in the car.
