All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
You got it! Looks dope homie! I know your a$$ enjoys being able to get your camp chill on quickly. No more messing around making camp..your driving it.

Did you powder coat your bumper to match the truck, or is that the reflection.
    That top pic looks killer!

Man the GFC has been awesome!! Cant wait til it warms up to get to try it in warmer weather.

I did, both the front and rear bumper were PC'd to match the color of the truck; super subtle, most never notice...

Bookmarking this for future reference. Had to get the windshield replaced in the Prius last year and it was such a pain in the ass.

So with my '92 4Runner I plan on swapping the 3.4 into it. I've heard it's easier to just get a parts truck instead of piecing it together, been slow recently and was looking on CL and FB yesterday. Saw a few that had decent miles but didn't have a title. My thinking is it doesn't matter to me because I plan on driving it home (hopefully, if not have to get a trailer etc.), then just parking it and taking the parts off.

As long as it's not stolen it shouldn't be an issue right and I have a detailed bill of sale? What about when I've gotten/sold all the stuff off, would a company still come take it even tho it doesn't have a title? Not in any rush as my mom is still saving for a new car so she is borrowing the Runner until then

I did this a long while ago with a CRX parts car when I built my SCCA racer... anyway, check with your insurance to make sure you're covered just in case you god forbid got in a wreck driving it home (or wherever you plan to dismantle)... and then I would double check what I'm saying here, but I believe GA still doesn't require registration for up to 30 days and you can drive on the bill of sale... so you would be fine there. As far as disposal when you're done, there are junk guys that will come and haul it away for scrap... guy winched the remains of my Honda onto his flatbed for free, no wheels, suspension, doors, hatch, etc. left on it

    Good luck with your project!

    @Taco critter
Do you know how scrapyards deal with old cars? Does one have to have a title to a vehicle to scrap it? Or have it taken away?

I think I would run the vin number by a local sheriffs office.

I am not 100% certain, but this is what makes sense to me. I think you are "safe" if you have a bill of sale, at least from any sort of criminal prosecution. You purchased it and didn't steal it, and you have no real way of verifying that the seller didn't steal it. Though in the event that it was stolen and the previous owner were to somehow determine its location, they could have a legal claim to have it returned. If you essentially plan to strip it down and sell the shell to a junkyard or similar, then I don't think you need a title. I would call a couple of junk yards or recycling centers and ask if you need a title to sell to them. At least, I think there are places that will buy old vehicles to recycle the metal.

Yeah didn't think about that on the way home, I'll check in on that when it comes closer just incase if I find one without a title. Just trying to keep it as cheap as possible since I mostly just want the engine and it's other necessities.

Yup would do a VIN check and then reach out to maybe @marinemonkey to check since he's a cop

Haha I have also seen that in my quick googling. They cut the shell up in pieces and dropped it off every few weeks

So trying to figure out what to do suspension wise when I go to do my rotors and UCAs. Ive been hauling my SxS alot so I have the AAL AND the overload spring in the back but it rides like a F250 in the rear.

The front is 5100s and OME 887s on the bottom ring/0". Shes sitting slightly higher in the rear. I can take some measurements if I need to.

Im wanting to take the overload spring out of the rear and go up in the front some since these springs have settled over time and I'm adding a hybrid bumper/winch to the front. How much height in the rear do you guys think I will loose?

So I’ve got another “repair shop horror story”, and I want y’all’s opinions. I have a 1984 Corvette that needed the 700R4 transmission rebuilt. I asked around and everyone said to take it to a certain guy who’s supposedly the best for GM transmissions. I called him up and he says “well I don’t pull transmissions, I only rebuild them. But I usually partner with shop XYZ, call them up and they can pull the transmission and deliver it, then reinstall it when I’m done”. They had good reviews on top of that, so I figured they’d be fine.

Fast forward later, shop XYZ has been holding my car for 6 weeks (was originally quoted 1 week). Every time I’ve called it’s been “well the rebuilder is slow so we’re waiting on that. It’ll be next week”. They called me a few days ago and said “hey, the tech that was working on your car did a really bad job, so he got fired. Also your header studs rusted out and your flex plate mounting holes are wallowed out”. Okay whatever, shit happens. They call me at 4:00PM today and say “it should be ready by 6:00”. So I go to the bank and get the check (they charge an extra fee for card), give them the check, get my keys, and lo and behold I can tell someone has been messing with the front end. The headlights don’t pop up in sync anymore and my electric COOLING FAN DOESNT WORK.

I immediately turn around and talk to the manager and of course he gives me the generic “well we didn’t mess with the front end but we’ll take a look at it Monday”. Like I literally can’t drive it home at this point, it’ll overheat.

How would y’all handle this? I have a bad feeling they’re going to say “well we didn’t touch it so you’re responsible for paying to fix it” despite it having been my daily driver up until I gave them the car 6 weeks ago. I have a hard time believing an e-fan that’s working 100% no problem just suddenly dies with no warning. My suspicion is that the now-fired tech pulled on something he wasn’t supposed to. I’ve already paid way more than the original quote in money and time, so I’m very frustrated.
