You’re right, that will happen and it will probably happen in our lifetimes. But people still own horses.

Not sure people will tolerate waiting 30 minutes or more to fill up. Maybe gas stations will morph into charging / restaurant stations or some other combo. Maybe eventually you'll just swap batteries and be on your way.

I have a 2018 MT TRD Sport. I also have a 17 year old son who has been shopping for an older car. The people who collect old and rare cars (and pay $$$) also appreciate a MT. Short term resale can negatively impacted by a MT because the buyer pool is smaller. It depends on where you want to sell your vehicle on the value curve. New vehicles depreciate instantly and usually settle at a low value where they remain for years until there are fewer of them and their rarity starts to increase their value. Well kept examples of almost any vehicle will appreciate if they are kept long enough. The game changer isn't MT vs Auto now but what will it be like in the future to own an antique vehicle? Gas might be too costly for with electric taking over.

19 MT If...God forbid..."something" happened, would personally pay a premium for a replacement.

Two totally different animals, like comparing Alpine to X-Country skiing. You will have 100% of the interest of MT buyers....and there will be plenty!

Little girls own horses to ride for fun on the weekend. "People" don't still own horses. Less than 2% of Americans own a horse.

Many people here keep saying "... but those buyers will really want a manual, so yeah you will have a much smaller number of possible buyers, but they'll pay more!" You guys all realize if this was true Toyota would charge more for a manual on a new truck, right? A manual costs a few thousand less. It is cheaper to manufacture and is in general less desirable.

Manual isn’t much different than a modded truck, just takes the right person. They always sell if you have the patience.

Personally, I think there would be more manuals on the road if manufacturers offered them. Ive been to dealers in the past looking for a manual and they tell me good luck finding one. Most have a hole burning in thier pocket to buy something new, so they buy the auto and call it a day. Alot of people dont have the will power to wait it out due to the excitement of a new vehicle. I waited and got a manual. I wish toyota would offer a manual 4-runner in the offroad package so I could have 2 sticks in the same cab again!

But for people who dont think a manual wont bring more money in the future, just check out bring a trailer website. And yes, I do think about resale when I buy a truck. Some on here say resale doesnt matter, but if I decide to sell, why not get more money back in your pocket over lets say another brand? We all know for the most part a vehicle is a financial loss. I definitely examine resale value amongst other brands while determining what to buy. Yes the zr2 is a cool truck, but history shows chevy resale sucks so toyota it is.

I am 69 and feel like a kid again when I drive mine. I hate driving our car with the automatic that keeps on coasting after you slow down and always on the brakes and very boring to drive.

Lived in a very hilly city for many years and wife and I had manual tx. vehicles. More convenient for descending hills and just more control for getting around. With an auto it just seemed you were either on the brakes or gas.

It boils down to supply and demand. The supply for manual is low, but so is the demand.

Same and I found myself shifting the auto manually going down hill to hold a gear.

Remember when truck were just for working? Now it's cool and they have luxury. I used my trucks for duty over offroading so I buy the lowest I can with the biggest engine that I can. My latest is a trd offroad non premium but I only bought it because I couldnt get an sr5 in manual.
