Welcome to TW and this thread.
You are right, the bolt head should be installed towards the tank. I’m not sure how the leaf pack would be defective but if they say so .
For the taco lean, usually adjusting the drivers side higher helps but you said it’s maxed out already. What’s your measurement from when center to fender all around?

If it’s leaning really hard, there has to be something but if the leafs are installed right and the coil is adjusted there should not be an issue. Here are my measurements after the lift- Drivers side front 23.5”
    Passengers side front 23.40”
    Rear 24”

    Thanks shwilly and hyrule_trd.
I will take measurements when I can get the truck on flat ground.
I agree, a defective leaf spring sounded odd to me. I have limited knowledge when it comes to this stuff, so I had to at least try what they suggested.

I need to send the photo to IM. I just called them on the phone and they said this shouldn't happen.
After talking to a friend, the leaf spring is installed properly. The 'TOY066B D/S' label is in the rear.
He said that his leaf spring has the bolt heads facing towards the gas tank.
My guess is that IM installed the bolts incorrectly. Maybe this is a newer problem as my friends kit is over a year old.

I'll post when I hear from IM. I'll probably put a few washers like others have done. Is it ok to just take that bolt off without jacking up the truck?

    Thanks

Glad I popped on the thread this morning... holy shit. Guess I'd better figure this out. Why is this seemingly only a recent thing? I read through this entire thread a few months ago and never saw this before. I wonder if they changed something.

A friend who has a kit from a year ago has the bolt heads facing towards the tank.
I wonder if the bolts are being installed in the wrong direction by IM manufacturing.

I got my kit in 8/2020 and didn’t think about it till one day I was looking over the truck before an off road adventure and found it. That was back in July maybe. I had seen this before but on a different brand here in TW. Maybe I’ll send them my pic too, just to help make sure they get this corrected.
I can’t figure out from my pics the orientation of the leaf packs before instal. I’m gonna copy these pics and share them in a message to their IG account.
I don’t think, besides installing them on the wrong sides, they can be put on the wrong way… maybe they can but I seem to remember that being not possible.. though with me, anything is possible

The leafs have a front and back. The part number faces the rear.

If you look at the leaf spring in the picture, the right side should be in the front. It has that little extra curl at the end.
Mine were installed correctly, so unfortunately I can't blame the installers.
Seems to be a problem stemming for IM/assembly.

Unfortunately you can't get the bolt out even with full droop. The only options are washers or remove the leaf and flip the bolt.

hyrule_trd - did you just unscrew that bolt and add a few washers? Do you have to clamp the spring or jack the truck up first?

Just removed the bolt and threw a few washers in there. There is a spacer in there too, if you didn’t notice between the arms. Last hint, I just eyeball measured to see how many washers I needed to have only 1 or 2 threads showing after the nut.

Easy fix to anyone wanting to remedy. Floor jack on the pumpkin. Factory jack between the frame and leaf pack. (to clear the bolt on the tank so you can slide it out). Don't even need to remove tire. Just flip the bolt around.

That said: I'm pretty pissed. Part of me feels like IM owes us new gas tanks. How safe is this shit with this gouge on my tank?

Yours is definitely the worse I’ve seen, not that there have been many. Maybe it’s more widespread but people don’t know to look. I’d get in contact with them about it. I did message them on IG but mine is not bad.
    Thanks for sharing your fix!

I sent them a message through the website. I've been a pretty big ambassador of this kit so far but this ain't cool... I hope they prove themselves as a company and pony up to make this right.

Same here. Some things can be overlooked or understand with how things are. This isn’t one of them.

Already heard back from Ironman which is cool considering it's the weekend... but because it's the weekend the response was pretty much "yikes. try and flip that bolt around and hopefully we'll have more for you on Monday." Understandable. Nice to get a response regardless.
