I use a spray on ceramic insulation called lizard skin for old Jeeps and pickups. Works good and is paintable also. X2 on longevity of paint Regarding expansion and contraction.
I sprayed the headliner and my entire interior of the cab in my 71 K10 Before carpeting.

It’s water based too so you can thin out the texture also, Sprays on like a bed liner

I used that stuff for the inside roof on my truck. I wanted something light weight and that would prevent the heat from getting in.

Sweet! I got the texture just right to my liking and left it visible. I just painted the stuff in the headliner area and didn’t put vinyl. Soaks up the paint pretty good though.

So just checking in, anyone with a 4runner try to check if the hood liner fits on a Tacoma?

Your best bet is to quote the person who you want more info on, then they can either say something, or someone else will pop in with a answer. The generic "bump" will just have people answering the original post question usually.

Does anyone know if the factory 4-runner hood insulation pad will fit Gen3 Tacoma? No answer above.
    Thanks!

I sourced one from a nearby junkyard.

You will only be able to use 4 or 6 (holes don't align) of the 8 mounting tabs to secure the 4runner's hood insulator into the Tacoma.

    Edit: corrected numbers
