Nice setup! Do you need to remove the rotopak to open the side?

How are you liking the outertent rtt?

Yes, I do have to remove the RotoPax to open; it is a compromise but it works for me. I've had the tent for about 3 months now and love it, it is slim, opens easily and the mattress is surprisingly comfortable, especially for my being a side-sleeper.

Looks great, i really like that setup! What water container are you using in conjunction with the heater?

I wish i would have bought an Outertent around August last year when they were heavily clearanced. :-/

Yeah, I'm glad I jumped on the Outertents initial release sale.
I got this northern tool supply 26 gal horizontal spot sprayer tank.

    Hi fellows,

just wondering how is the day time visibility out the back window with the Tacoma factory tint and the RSI tint.

I have my back window tinted and it’s to dark to see out of with the RSI cap. I’m debating removing my tint unless it won’t make much of a difference.

    Thanks

I honestly never really use or notice/remember ever using the rear view mirror/look out the back window with any canopy (previous fiberglass). I’m sure I do to some extent but my side mirrors (spotter) and the cam takes me home.

When I did my tint it was only the front doors and windshield (I may redo the front doors and add the rear doors to match) but I wouldn’t even consider the rear window. I’m also rarely if ever removing the canopy so it’s literally pointless for me. I’d say if your similar non removal then rip it out. But if you plan on removing the canopy more frequently then leave it.

I’ll try to remember to take note of the visibility next time I’m in the truck

I do wish the rsi molle panels/cutouts were more of a standard size. I have briefly thought about seeing how much greymantactical would charge to make a size specific (using the same mounting locations) to replace it. I’d think if there were more people, like a group buy, that price might lower some. They are a plastic material also

they sell mounting plates to fit in the cutouts, I posted in another how the built-right bed molle has the same cutouts and work.

I had the same idea of wanting to be able to get to my fire extinguisher from that back or side. I order a fire extinguisher universal bar mount and made a back plate out of aluminum strap. 20220206_103608.jpg 20220206_103558.jpg 20220206_103514.jpg

This is what I planned on but mounted to the front drivers seat/rails, least obtrusive and easy access

Yeah there just cheap light bars off Amazon that give me light outside the truck when the wings are open and i have on on the back to light up the tailgate. The strip lights I haven't been real impressed with and might do something different down the road but I run everything off a portable power pack. I try to get some night shots soon.

I just bought some hard korr orange/white light bars/canopy kit- kinda excited to get them in. Have to figure out a power/fuse box for the bed (I already have 10awg ran from the battery to bed for my occasional fridge use). Thinking I should be able to just use that and make a junction- thoughts always welcomed.

curt at gtfo answered all my questions fast and on the weekend. They were willing to custom the kit for me on whatever lengths I needed but the listed kit should work great

This isn't a great pic but you can see the light bars light20220207_200932.jpg up the exterior of the truck when the wings are open and the led strips light the interior of the bed

I have 35% over factory in the rear and haven’t had an issue. I also opened the RSI slider window the day I got it installed and haven’t closed it since, 90% of the time I also drive w/ the truck slider open as well…. But visibility is fine out of the tinted sides as well.

Those are your options. The magnetic covers had concerns over damaging the surface of the panels w/ the exposed magnets and potentially rusting or leaving rust rings/marks from the magnets so it was scrapped by the creator (for now anyway).

The rubber covers offered by Mikes and Top Notch AK are the way to go for now. Same covers, same price, I ordered from AK as they had them in stock ready to ship at the time. Took 15 minutes to install on all 6 locks. $65 to the door, received in 2 days in the PNW.
