That's a horrible idea. What time?
Some follow up on the tire issue with Gwen's car. With reservations and a poor service history in mind, I took the tire over to Malloy Ford, because the closest Lincoln dealer is an hour + away. And we bought the tire / wheel protection package because neither the tire or wheel are cheap. The good tires were within spec for replacement of just the bad tire, but we did two just to keep the set even. Standard practice. Gwen went over today to have the tires put on. They told her she needed four because the other two were below spec. Long frustrating story short, two tires, we buy one. Add to my already poor review of the service department. And for good measure, I may swing by and ask why there were trying to take advantage of my wife for two more tires.

There were two reasons I didn't wait for the Ranger. Manual transmission and Malloy Ford's service department's reputation. After my first experience over there, and the completely $W#$%^ "service," the service writer I dealt with was let go, new people were brought in (including my neighbor, who has since left), and some new techs were brought in. They even brought the service manager over from Malloy Toyota to try and change things up. My neighbor left after about six months of :frusty: for a managers position somewhere else. It appears that not much has changed in three years.

If you know anyone who wants (?) a Ford, tell them to avoid this place.

It will cost $400 total to have one their authorized tuners do it, versus $390 to buy the VF Tuner (went up $40 recently) and another $300 to buy the KD Max tune, for a total of $690 to do it yourself. I decided to go ahead and do it myself to save a 1.5 hour drive each way to my nearest tuner, be able to change settings in Techstream (like turning off the #$#!#% seatbelt reminder), and you can supposedly turn off individual CEL codes with the KD Max tune, which is something I need for the relentless code I keep getting after putting on my URD Y pipe.
    Damn, that is SEXY
    Pffft

I am interested in your feedback once you get it all up and running, are you going to test VF alone, then do the KD Max? Especially given your code throwing issues.

He said he setup the file for dump tubes and didn't block the code. He thinks I shouldn't get the code anymore, but if it returns, he'll block the code and send me an updated file. I won't really know until it warms up outside because for some reason the code goes away in the winter and it's been a couple months since I last saw it.

Just finished the TSB update without incident, a little nerve racking knowing you can potentially brick your ECU. Also just installed VF Tuner and registered it, so I'll try flashing the tune this afternoon.

Man I need to see if my ECU/TSBs are up-to-date...shifting has been rougher than usual the last few trips I've made, but will be doing a fluid check hopefully in the next weekend or two.

I flashed the tune after lunch and drove it initially 1-2 miles and it didn't feel one bit different, which was discouraging. Just took it for a longer drive, about 5-6 miles, and it feels like it's starting to wake up. I know you're supposed to put about 500 miles on it for it to fully learn and settle in, but most of the reviews I've read said the change was almost immediate. On the second drive it was getting to 3500 rpm a lot quicker going up the hills around here, so it's definitely different, feels more linear. That's really what I'm after, getting rid of that feeling like the engine is constipated until it hits 3500 rpm. To be continued....

I notice the KD Max on mine almost immediately. I'm glad I did it.

Did you reset all the trim values afterward? That may be why it wasn't immediate.

I cleared the DCT and LVs before I flashed, not sure if that's the same thing as what you asked. PapaRee told me if I cleared the values the first 50 miles will suck. Said he doesnt clear them anymore. I'm going to flash the Sport tune tomorrow, which is what he recommended and what I had been thinking about doing anyway.

Tiffany was just telling me about that and I immediately thought about you and Bailey… glad you’re safe and hope the same is true for Bailey.
