So how did this magical fuck up occur anyway. I know you're not stupid but right now without backstory, it seems like you're stupid.

The more I look into "finishing" my truck by expanding the livability (ie pop up camper shell on it) the more I keep going back to simple setups and liking em. That quick setup interior hangout room is super tempting, especially (ironically) on the shorter trips when I just want to have a fast roomy spot to duck into, but man the more I look into it the harder it becomes to justify. Not necessarily $$ wise but then you're also dailying it and they all have weird design issues versus the ARE I already have.

Yeah... Well the damage is done, gotta figure out how to make it work now I guess. I'm sure you can do that, I know we've never met, but fuck even I had a little mourning for you here dude. I wish you the best of luck and I know one thing... You're smarter now haha.

I dunno, it’s like congrats for making a mistake.

I feel stupid and disappointed in myself.

Oh I’m definitely not just gonna jump ship. Whether it works with her is up in the air still. But I’m gonna try

I've never said congrats unless I know they really wanted kids. The whole kids are blessing thing is only true if you want kids... Otherwise they're an 18 year responsibility that you cannot and morally should not shrug off. They need good parents to make them into decent/happy/well adjusted people. But like I said I know @JKO1998 is smart, he will figure it out.

My reaction to close friends who've been through it hasn't been, "congrats," its been, "are you okay?" But when I'm not sure or don't want to assume familiarity, I just default to congrats. Its a heavy thing.

I’m in the same boat, I use a vehicle for too many different things to purpose build it for one thing. I’m also big on the KISS principle, and it’s hard to get simpler than good old camping gear.

Yeah there's that one part of me that knows it'd be useful and I'd like it for certain situations, but then the added daily weight and complexity and the stuff I don't like about them, etc. It's the same reason I haven't done drawers. I know they'd be great until I want to sit in the bed and chill out or carry something weird and bulky. It's kinda funny too, the more complicated builds I look at for reviews or info, the less I want one.
Maybe just invest in a super nice tent I can stand up in haha

Definitely a heavy thing. I don't think I would ever be prepared or okay. That's actually a nice question to ask though, I like that and I'll be stealing it.

Yeah. I have this toolbox on the flat bed that I can remove in 10 minutes or so if needed because it eats up 1/3 of my space.

    Never do remove it lol.

Been looking at tents lately too, not finding much I like. Some of those big canvas ones are sweet but they’d do well for me like 2 nights a year:/

I looked at those too, like the Springbar, but they're also big when packed and heavy and I've heard of owners with mildew issues and stuff because they're canvas. I dunno. Those Gazelle tents seem good. OzTent maybe?

Dont feel that way man. Lots of people have been in your shoes too and it works out for those that try.

I can say though that working towards putting a ring on her might be wise. Cause if it doesnt work out between you two, the court always sides with the mom it seems.

It's still pretty foreign to me too in some aspects, like trying to mingle with other parents I don't know at her classes and playgrounds. It's like middle school all over again

Most of the big ones end up just end up being too heavy for me. I want one tent that I can take backpacking, car camping and kayaking, and the backpacking part limits it pretty bad.
