That's a negative. The complaint here is that Ironman sent the bolt installed backwards and it gouged my gas tank.

my goodness, I'm gone for like 12 hours and I got so many notifications I can't keep up, lol.

I checked. Everything looks fine on my end. I have over an inch actually. I haven't gone back and read too much about the issue yet, but that seems VERY odd to be an issue. Like something is tweaked that shouldn't be. That said, I wonder if it's simply just the fuel tank mounting. I saw a couple mounting points when I was checking that seem like they could easily be the culprits and give too much play. Anyone check those? Or was it just backwards? Seems like it would rub either way if it's that close.

@the.shelbysaurus - I was searching the non-US Ironman sites. They seem to have more technical info on their pages. I saw other photos as well where the bolt head was facing the tank. It really seems as though there is a defect in the assembly - OR we're supposed to assume D/S is actually N/S here in the US as mentioned above.

@LiquidArrogance - Thanks again for the photos. I was able to flip that bolt with your method. I had to pull the plastic cover off the fuel tank, but that was simple.

Thanks to the person who first posted this issue. My tank is probably ok, although I'll probably have it checked out.

This is really to bad. I think the kit is really good.

How do you stay away for 12 hours lol???

I’ve not checked any other mounting points and am unsure what you mean.

Did all of us with the issue get the comfort leaf packs? Any with the constant have issues? Maybe the placements are different of that saddle.

I think @Fletcher37 had a constant load pack?

oh, edit to add: @hyrule_trd I have the performance/comfort load pack and I just went to double check the bolt. My driver's side leaf pack is installed in the correct front/back orientation and the bolt head is on the inside. On the passenger side though, the bolt head is on the outside.

I also have constant load. Probably why my ride is so rough right now without bumpers - plus, e rated tires...

    Two problems with this theory.

1: On the IM4x4 America website they specify d/s as driver side and therefore I put it on the driver side. If they wanted me to do the opposite they should have said so.

    upload_2022-2-5_16-59-9.jpg

2: Even if I HAD done the opposite... they still got it wrong! The bolts on my passenger side spring would ALSO be gouging the fuel tank if installed on the driver's side. The way they were shipped, every single bolt HEAD faces the driver's side of the truck when installed with the stenciling on the leaf spring toward the rear of the vehicle.

You planning to add a rear bumper soon? If not (and if you haven't already seen this tip) ya might wanna pull a leaf or two to soften it up til you get your bumper. Instructions on that are somewhere in here.

I have the Constant Load leaf packs. I have the D/S installed on the driver's side and N/S on the passenger. (I recall emailing Ironman way back to confirm that by "D/S" that meant US driver's side and not the Aussie d/s. My back end came out pretty even in terms of minimal to no Taco lean.

My D/S pack bolts were installed correctly with the bolt head on the tank side so there's no rubbing.

I checked my N/S pack and the same bolt is installed with the bolt head facing outside.

Does sound like somebody put the bolts on wrong with some of you guys. That blows. Hopefully there'll be a good outcome.

Appreciate the extra info. Definitely sounds like we got boned. Noting we can do now but maintain holding pattern and see what they have to say come Monday.

I also left for 12 hours today and found myself 3 pages behind. Saw the most recent development and went out to see my situation. Mine isn't nearly as bad as some others, but I've definitely had some rubbing. May take the time to flip the bolt as that seems to be a relatively simple/effective solution.
Agreed its a bummer this came up and hoping their CS offers solutions. Honestly not holding my breath they're gonna offer up fuel tank replacements...
Anyone have any insight to what the Hilux pickups are built like? Is fuel tank in same location as Tacoma, or did they build the kit based on the Hilux and simply try to convert the same setup to the Tacoma?

yea I’m not sure what they are going to do, if anything. I think they do owe @LiquidArrogance.

I checked out pics of the Hilux and the fur door is on the drivers side so I’m guessing the tank should be there as well.

I don't believe the gouged tanks are inclusive to IM leafs. I could be wrong but i swear I've read posts in other threads where other brands have the same issue.

@gefitnib ... Taco lean is handled up front. Were your coilovers flipped L/R by chance upon install?

You’re right. Icon has had that issue and there is a note about it in their instructions. Our main concern is that these are supposed to be remove and replace with the old ones and all ready to go. I think the only instructions are in video form from Ironman. Which would have been fine, but this isn’t something normally expected.
I didn’t even think about checking to see if that bolt was facing the right way.
