On long island some are placing orders while some arent. Markups between 5000 -10000 over msrp. Went in to dealer today and as we neg the markup down the trade in went down. Its unbelievable

It was easy except for the new plastic pieces the wires run through between the tailgate and bed, those were a bitch and my fingers still hurt. I did the OEM kit on this truck and it's much quieter than the non OEM one I did on our other truck.

Yes we were flexible I wanted Lunar, then Green, then MGM, then White. When I paid my deposit he had Blurple and a Red TRD OR MT with just Tech I could have grabbed right then. He then called with a Silver or the White one 3 weeks later. I'm surprised you still haven't gotten one.

Howdy, folks! First post, but I've been following this thread for a few months now. I decided on a Taco in November, test drove the '18 MT Sport that the dealer had to make sure I'd like the transmission and decided to pursue a new TRD OR MT in AG with premium package. Was told by that dealer that they wouldn't be able to get one since all the manuals they get were factory requests and that the factory had quit taking requests in October (of course they did lol since I had been flip flopping over Tacoma, Maverick, or F150 since March). Was told the same thing by all the dealers that I spoke to in Texas. At that point I found this thread and decided to expand my search. I searched on Cars.com for any and all AG TRDOR MTs in the country and reached out to all of them that had one listed. All of those were pre-sold, so at that point I was starting to think I would not actually be able to get my truck.

12/15 I got an email from a dealer in the Bay area in CA that they had just received an allocation for exactly what I was looking for. We talked pricing and they were doing MSRP plus PPF from a third party shop that they use for all new vehicles. It's a little high for PPF, but it's 3M and I was considering getting PPF anyway so I signed and gave my deposit. Temp VIN had a build week of 03 and the temp VIN went away on 1/14. Truck got there today and I'm flying out next Sunday to pick it up and road trip it back to Texas. Will have stops at the Grand Canyon and a ski trip in CO on the way back.

My dealer told me they just got another allocation for a TRDOR MT in AG (no premium package I believe) that's available. He also has two Pros, but they do market adjustment on Pros. Let me know if you're interested and I'll shoot you my salesman's number.

EDIT: Here's the truck. I passed on it due to the $3k PPF.

I've talked about this elsewhere, but I'll say it again since it's come up recently in this thread with regard to the forced in-house financing.

YES, they absolutely make money from the banks by selling you the financing. Sometimes it's a flat rate, and sometimes it's a percentage. It depends on any behind the scenes promotions going on between the dealers and the banks.

Here's the rub- if you pay off that loan within 6 months (usually 6 months, it could potentially be slightly longer or shorter) the banks CHARGE the dealer for the incentive paid. If the dealer made $1000 off your loan, they have to pay it all back to the bank.

Knowing this, if a dealer had what I wanted for a price I'd be willing to pay, I wouldn't bat an eye at forced in-house financing. Play dumb, let them mark up the rate, whatever works. Just keep an eye on the bottom line and makes sure nothing is being added. Once you leave, start shopping for a refinance. There's a chance they'll give you a good rate, but if not, you can do better and hurt the dealer for being unethical.

And for god's sake, stop paying more than MSRP. Just stop. There is no Toyota worth more than MSRP. Every person paying over MSRP is driving up prices for the rest of us.

Pick up the MT Pro today. Really enjoyed my three hour drive home. Did not enjoy the four hours “process” at the dealership. Also, I went in with a pre-approved 1.99 APR and they matched it and gave me $500 off.

Bingo! My Toyota salesman friend said 3 months, but it's probably longer as that info is dated. You pay off or refi and they get screwed. It's a beautiful thing after they bend you over the table and recant on their promises when you "ordered" the truck.

Sweet. Hopefully mines not too far behind. What size tire is that? Can you do me a huge favor and measure the distance from the UCA to the interior of the tire? I'm trying to choose either a 255 or 285 tire before the truck gets here.
    TIA

What is with the long time at the dealerships during the purchase process? When I purchased my 4Runner a year ago I was in and out in less than an hour. I did break up the purchase into two days; one was test drive and figures and the second was finance and paperwork.

I'm a new guy on the block sort of. Had a Toyota "Pick Up" (essential the Hilux for the U.S. market) back in 1992.
I Put down my deposit for a 22 TRD Sport A/t Magnetic Grey on Jan 26. Dealer told me that truck wasn't "built" yet and was a little vague as to when it would be here.
He said worst case would be the end of March. Would that be correct? I have seen on here most folks are waiting longer for the OR or Pros and those with manual transmissions.
But I haven't seen much said about the Sport. Or Im just CHEAP and bought the slightly less costly trim. :):)
