I'm interested, but nervous about it being my first time and not really knowing what it's like, what's needed and involved, etc.. So I'm wondering if there is anyone interested in going who perhaps wouldn't mind letting me ride along as a passenger? I saw someone make that suggestion for the trip in October and thought that might be a better option for a first timer like myself. Thoughts?

    Edit*
My brother chastised me for suggesting not driving myself. :duel:
He thinks I should just do it. He might be right. So how about best advice for a first timer?

I had forgotten all about that… maybe I can head there after my kids basketball game…

I’d say do what you’re comfortable with. AOAA has green trails that are pretty easy plus most times there will be someone there that’s done it before. There were no really concerning spots and some that might have been iffy, we had someone get out and spot. I might have shared this but here is my dash cam from last July out there, it might give you a better idea. Most the time I was in 2WD. https://youtu.be/x0AmpEPfAag

I understand your concerns, but I think you’ll be just fine. Last time was my first time really going off road and I just just installed suspension and tires the week before. The green trails offer a fun challenge here and there but nothing that will break your stuff or your confidence. We will have more than enough people to help out and spot you in a tricky situation. I was in 4x4 most of the time and maybe could’ve used a locker at one spot, but with a little thought from the crew, we were able to get right up. Bring your rig and some coffee and you’ll have a blast!

I thought that you were there the whole time? Weren't you leading the group when we got "dis-orientated" in the back corner of the park? We got out of there literally minutes before the monsoon started.

Should be there were 6 of us up there last weekend. Just be real as the roads are super icy. We have two people spin out heading to our campsite.

If you have a problem getting a site at GR let me know. I'm not far from GR, you can camp on my spot. It has electric, view & a outhouse.

I went to Lowe's in Cumberland today with a buddy that's building a house here on the mountain. This was $1772 bucks! Luckily for him hes in the finishing stages and this should be the last bit of wood he needs to buy.
