Hope it happens quick for you. Because this whole 'vehicle flipping for profit' will end sooner than later.

A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.
I don't plan to make a penny on it. I just needed a new truck and wanted lime green. I'm 44 and have two young boys. It feels like it's time for a good mid life crisis. It was a lime green taco or corvette...

Modifications are bad and only bad people modify.
I contacted 14 dealers before one gave me an OTD at MSRP over email for the build sheet PDF I emailed them. Many said they just couldn't do it. I was in Florida at the time and took delivery six months later in Knoxville. Some dealerships just don't bother with orders, but there might be other issues now. As long as your desired paint code is still in production, a dealer should be able to make an allocation order and get you on a list.

I realize there is a parts crisis now, but even before this, when I was shopping for a 2019 Tacoma, I only saw one Pro at six local dealers, and it was a 2018. If there were more Pros sitting around, I might have bought one.

Good point about something like a paint code not being in production by the time the build comes up in the production line. That would be a bummer to then have it cancelled! I did a build to order Jeep TJ on time and it was delayed a month because one rare option (ABS) was out of stock.

Huge bummer! Many paint codes for CJDR are not in production for certain vehicles per my GM, as the factory ordering software won't let us build in some configs. Looks like Toyota is experiencing the same based on what some members say here. It looks like some color choices are reduced on the Toyota website.

It's disappointing to explain to longtime customers that Gecko Green and Snazzberry aren't in the production schedule until at least May, if then. There's supposedly a pigment/chemical shortage, add that to the seat foam and chips, inflation, and rising values, and we have a lot of people driving higher and higher mileage cars. Maybe I'll look into investing in national/public Auto repair companies, lol.

Well, maybe not as in selling for more than you have in it.

However, in 'normal times' you'd be taking at least a couple grand hit in depreciation when you resold.

By those standards the whole 'flipping for a profit' comment is valid.

Anytime you can buy what the IRS considers a depreciating asset, use it for some period/miles and resell at purchase price, you're ahead.

Not saying you are doing anything unethical at all. Just that this gravy train won't last forever, so I hope your MT appears before the market adjusts.

If I was a betting man, I'd wager that there will be a lot of people buying today that will find themselves upside down in their notes when that happens, or cash buyers suddenly out a bunch of presumed equity. It may even burn some lease holders, depending on their T&C.

Gecko Green and Snazzberry and cool colors! When I ordered my TJ (which I still have), I wanted Electric Lime Green, but order went in to build for 2006 which that color was discounted. I ended up with Flame Red.

This market isn't ending anytime soon, we're talking months not days here...

Also, it's pretty simple for G2.M6 to not find himself upside down. The dealer will let him know a few weeks in advanced that his manual is on it's way to the dealer. At that point he can list his current automatic for sale and have a buyer lined up before he makes any deal on the new manual. If the numbers are not favorable he can tell the dealer no and get his deposit back and the next person in line will be more than ecstatic to get his lime green manual.

When I purchased my Tacoma, I had been looking for quite some time.

My local dealer was not much help and actually ticked me off with their general attitude. I know that things are tough, but I am still the customer and have the right to ask questions.

The issue was that they had SR models on the lot that they had put bump stickers on where they had installed TRD skid plates, TRD lift, and bigger tires among a few other items. They had taken a truck with an approximate MSRP sticker price of $33,000 and gotten it up to about $43,000.

I asked them if I could order one without the extras and they said no, that all of them were coming that way. I thought this was incorrect because the extra items were not on the window sticker and instead on a separate smaller sticker just to the side of the original sticker.

I asked if I could just get one as it came of the truck without the extras and they said no, all their trucks had extras added.

I went to another dealer about 20 miles away and the salesman said he'd call me when they had an SR5 coming in. The rest is history as I got mine about an hour after it was unloaded after my salesman alerted me. (My profile pic is the one the dealer sent me when my truck arrived)

I paid MSRP off the sticker, plus tax/title and a small dealer fee of $300. I figure that the dealer fee was excess but was not in the mood to argue over it.

I understand times are tough for them, but I'm not going to get hosed simply because I want one of their trucks.

Now I have to drive to the other dealer for service because I don't trust my local dealer to treat me right.

I was told the same thing about factory orders by 3 different dealers. I think because the production is so limited they're not doing orders. I've been on a waitlist for a TRD Pro since Aug 2021... supposedly they're producing 15 more this month/next month and I'll be part of that allocation. Fingers crossed for me.

I had several sales managers tell me outright they can't get one, only request one.

Small dealers might get 1 PRO per year across all models, so most PRO's are pre-sold/waitlisted.

There are a few still available due to the high sale prices, but if you're not able to find one your best bet is to call around as far as your willing to travel trying to find an allocation.

If the dealer actually has an allocation they will be able to show you the pipeline summary to prove it's scheduled, or already in production. I wouldn't put down a deposit without seeing it.

Not sure where your location is but I know in the NorthEast you cannot order exactly what you want cause I tried the same thing and every dealer said it cant be done. However I talked to a dealer down in Alabama (I was willing to go anywhere except California for the truck I wanted) and he said he could order EXACTLY what I want but it would be up to 90 days. With most of the orders coming in around the 60 day mark. Not sure if he was just trying to sweet talk me into a deal or what. But I do know that NE and SE use different factories to produce vehicles so it is possible.

wow these got over priced, in see used 2019 2wd here in cali and there asking for 38k for a used truck.

But TRD PROs you pay a premium for a truck that most people will just have the suspension changed anyways. So is the hood scoop worth an extra 10k?

I bought my 2019 OR for 40k out the door and added TRD PRO shocks annnnnd now it rides just as good.

There is still a shortage of “chip” and other manufacturing crisis issues, parts ect.
It’s not only tacomas, any brands are at limited stock. The dealers get what the manufacturers can supply, it’s nation wide. There is no special order anymore, options are what’s allocated to dealer by manufacturers
