I don't know if that 3.4 alt works for the 4cyl trucks.

I was debating on trying the jaguar alternator listed above. Oem parts are my preference, even if it's not a Toyota part.

That’s awesome. Thanks for letting me know.

I ended up using an ANL inline fuse but I’m kinda regretting it since there’s not much room for it. At least it wouldn't be too hard to change now that I’ve done it.

subscribing. thank you OP for the research.

Is the general consensus that the OP's Denso part is still the alternator to go with?

Cant speak for everyone but it’s night and day difference for me. Windows roll up faster, lights are brighter, voltage readings are much healthier overall. At idle I’m sitting around 14.4 so I think anything bigger than 105 amp would’ve been too much.

I probably could’ve gotten 10 years out of a new OE alternator so it’s not like the originals are useless. But with aftermarket stereo and lighting, this upgrade is definitely going to take stress off the battery.

Hands down my favorite upgrade so far because of how easy it was and how great the results are.

What year Taco did you install it in? And just to confirm, you put in the Denso #210-0461? Mine's a '17 and doing fine, but would like all the things you mentioned.

according to rock auto, your stock alternator is already 130amp. also this is for the 1st gen tacoma which is only 80amp.

No, I have the 2.7L and no tow package, so my alt is not 130 amp. But just learned it is supposed to be 100. I thought it was less. So still, you're right in that I won't have much gain from swapping.

yeah yours is already 100amp then. but I don't think this alternator will work with the 2017 tacoma anyway. maybe you can make the 3.5l fit in yours. check with the 3rd gen tacoma forums they will know more than us.

Mines a 99 and yes that’s the part number. With that said, I’d bet my lunch that it wouldn’t fit in your 17.

The good news is that someone has probably already taken the time to figure out which alternators fit in your truck if you ever need to “upgrade”. I’d be surprised if yours actually needed it though. Those newer ones are pretty stacked.

Dang so part number 2100461 its completely out of stock everywhere! Do I need anything else for wiring? I have an M8000 winch only, no extra lights or anything. Great find!

I may have missed it but...What years Vitara does this alternator come from? Is there a certain engine size etc.? I found a part out and want to make sure.

Found this post. Are these the only models and years? Can't seem to find one new so I am looking at part outs.

I've been following this thread for a while because I confirmed the oem alternator in my 99' prerunner is 70 amps. I thought it was 80 amps but the service and parts department confirmed it was 70 amps. I don't plan to add a ton of upgrades but I would like the power windows to operate faster and ease the draw on the battery. Is there a Denso direct fit for my 99' 3.4 that would get me 80 to 90 amps? Or am I better off waiting until the national backorder on the 105 amp model is filled and just go with that. I've read through the threads to see if anyone has asked these questions and didn't find anything. But it's like looking for the mustard in the fridge, if it's not right in front of my face, I won't find it! Thx!
