Should I Switch to Predator Steps?

I see you've got a DBC LB. I took my Predator Bars off as soon as got home from dealer in Dec. But (sigh) they came off an Access cab.
And I'm in Florida too. They are available.

 

Crap. If they fit a double cab I would have been all over them. Thanks though!

 

Ok, so I have had both and far prefer the Predators. The step function is far superior on the Pred's. My wife is 5'4" and my kid is now 9, both utilize the steps. I am lifted now, but switched before I lifted and benefitted even then too.

 

I prefer the Predators, use them as a step to reach on top of the vehicle to dry it off or clean the glass. I'm 6'0 and the work great, as I step over them a s well. Never hit my legs shins nor have I been blinded by the scoop like some. They pop up often for a few hundred bucks on CL or FB.

I love my predator steps. They were installed by the dealership before I decided to buy it. I'm sure it would have been cheaper if I had bought/installed aftermarket.

That being said here are a reasons they work great for me:

1) Protection in parking lots. The stick out just enough so they protect my truck if someone opens their door to fast without thinking. No door dings here people!
2) I'm very tall ( 6' 3" ) but there are vertically challenged people that ride in my truck occasionally. They love that there is a step down (and grab handle), so they can get in and out with a bit of ease.
3) When I go off road, they don't take away (much) from the ground clearance.
4) Even though they stick out a bit (See number 2), they don't protrude out making it difficult for me to avoid them. I can easily step into my truck without them, and not bang my shin.
5) I can use them as a step when trying to wash or dry the top of my truck.
6) I think they look cool. Enough said!

 

Have to agree, the predator steps are the way to go. My Ohana uses them all the time to get in and out and your feet do not tend to slip while using even in snow.

 

In the same boat with those as he is the current step bars he has. Almost as high as the truck body so when u step on them ur head is way over the top of the cab due to the low cab height. I just sold a set of those running boards. They look good and do a good job of protecting from paint chips.

 

They are great, until they are not.

First time off roading popped the right side steps off, ended up cutting the rest off the next day.

I really wouldn't if your going to be doing any off roading. Good sliders can work as steps.

I agree. If I did any off-roading at all I wouldn't even consider them. Just asking for trouble. My truck is a daily driver and sees the occasional dirt or gravel road, but that's about it.

OP, I don't know what your thoughts would be on this but this is my opinion. If she never drives the truck and since you don't need a step I would just get a singular step for the passenger front door.

 

And I suppose asking which cup holder best fits my Walkman belongs in the audio section?

I would say the OP question is in the right spot.

 

Only had my truck since this past Friday afternoon. I have smashed my shins on them every time I get into the thing. I'd honestly rather a nice slider/step.

What are these things selling for anyway?

 

I was going to sell them for 400, now I have predator aluminum sliders for those that want light weight.

 

I figured around 400 since they are something stupid like 600 to buy new. If anyone in north NJ area is interested, shoot me a message. I'm taking them off this week.

 

I think I've seen these sold on the forum for about 200 - 300.

 

Tough talk coming from a guy who has been here for only one Friday... Oh, and the takes on the 4Lo name is kind of taken. You wouldn't want Randy Involved now would you?
