For a poor approximation you can drive Illinois from north to south.

 

Driving from the midwest on I80 sucks though...

I only made it part way across Nevada, before diverting south so I could go down US 50

 

I found I70 to be much more pleasant, despite the horrible crosswind the day I drove it.

Funny story -

I just got out of the military and was still a CA resident but had just moved to IL.

Needed to drive to CA on short notice to pick up my dog, and fuck if I didn't get caught speeding on I80.

Freaking state trooper didn't believe my story of having a 24hr notice, to drive to CA, being an IL resident with an IL registered car, to pick up a dog from a shelter, while stopped on I80 in IA.

I was questioned outside the state trooper's car only to be put in the back seat and have my ex questioned as well. I only knew that because the on-board speaker was on and there was a microphone attached to the front so I heard the whole conversation.

Dude comes back and says I'm free to go, thanks me for my service, and told me to keep it slower next time.
