pretty significant size difference in comparison. The fin designs are significantly different between the two as well. The Procharger fins are very thin, tight together and the spaces between bars are shorter. You can clearly see how wide and open the URD fins are.

I’ve read lots of conflicting arguments between which design is better; even deformities in the fins themselves to slow down and maximize heat transfer to the air.

The one thing most agree upon are Garrett cores being the best. Maybe one day…
I’m not sure what URD uses, the cooler itself is repurposed from some other application I’m unaware of.

Most of those probably coming off the same boat.. I've had a many ebay intercoolers over the years and haven't had a problem with one yet. Spend the $$$ where it matters.. Beer of course!

Anyone got some advice as to where I should start beefing up the engine and transmission? I'd really like to know what the weak points are and recommended replacements also welcome!

Here is a video that really lets you hear what the truck sounds like now, stock exhaust besides URD U Spec headers. (Also looking for y pipe recommendations since roostfactor has stopped production)

Good to see you're still ripping it. I think at the default power level it's gonna be pretty darn solid as is. It's not till you start adding more boost when you will need to look at doing engine upgrades, and that pretty much means doing internals. (pistons/rods) If you're itching to wrench you could do the mightytacoman cam gears? Many have reported some gains with those. Otherwise there's not really much else to change without goin deep. Same deal goes for the trans. The added power will create more wear and tear to the TQ Converter and clutches. Doing a valve body upgrade could help things last longer but it's impossible to say when it will decide to check out. If you plan on doing any towing or extended ripping an external trans cooler would be a good idea. You could also see some improvements with a re-gear. I did my gears well after doing the Procharger and it was one of the best changes I've made but I'm also on 35s. Gears will also help relieve some strain on the trans.

Regarding the Y-pipe, i'm running the DT y-pipe now. Keep in mind that deleting the 2nd cats will increase the noise level 10 fold, you will want definitely to do the rest of the exhaust at the same time with a beefy muffler or it will be rasp/drone city.

Thanks a ton for the info, the cam gears are on my list. I do have an external trans cooler already so im good there. What gearing did you move too?

What exhaust setup are you running now and do you have any videos?

    Homemade 2.5", Header > Y pipe > large vibrant resonator > flowmaster 50 series > small vibrant resonator >

It's still pretty zesty but it sounds good. I'm going to swap to a 70 series muffler to tone it down a bit more soon.

If we get a dry moment I'll record a clip.

So I was in there replacing all my other pullies the other day and noticed that my same lower pulley was feeling a little bit gritty and the anno is starting to flake off of it. I went ahead and ordered a new one from Procharger. ($115 ) I'm going to source some higher quality bearings and rebuild the old one for a spare. Probably something to keep an eye on for those with this setup.

I've also been experimenting with different belts. The provided 6PK1790 Bando stretches a shit ton and will eventually slip. I would replace these every time you do an oil change. It's a $12 belt so no big deal. I put a Gates K060705 RPM belt in there which doesn't stretch nearly as much. TBD how it holds up over time but I'm feeling pretty confident about it so far.

Gates is far better quality I've noticed. I put one of their belts in my Polaris for the CVT and its the first belt that hasn't shredded after a couple trips.

I'll definitely give the gates belt a shot next time!

Can anyone help me with the procharger kit for the 3rd gens? I don’t know if i’m in the right thread but i’m fully catless and it has a flash tune that came with the kit. My jms boost a pump has an led on it and it doesn’t turn on and i don’t think it’s working. If anyone has pictures they could show me of the wiring that would be very helpful. I’ve done everything correctly and i’m even going back and soldering them to make a solid connection. Thank you for any help.

Maybe try and start the truck without the fuel pump booster installed to eliminate that as a possible fault.

the thing is she needs the boost a pump. Running lean up too i can hear her stuttering between shifts in the high rpms. I’m gonna solder the wires to make a fully secure connections and go from there. Belt keeps slipping because i didn’t line up the bracket and pulley extension correctly so i haven’t even been able to drive it.

Man. It's pretty well known the OEM fuel pumps can barely keep up with the demands of an even slightly modified motor. If your fueling issues are bad enough to hear them, I would think seriously think about ditching the boost-a-pump and upgrading to a better fuel pump ASAP.

I've had great luck with the URD kit along with the Aem E85 320 Lph Pump.

great thank you i was initially looking at a new one just didn’t know which one to get. Will I have to get a new tune with a upgraded fuel pump? If so i’ll have to go down to league city to D3 performance cause they did most of my tuning before i had the procharger and they were gonna dyno tune it anyway in may. I just looked though and that’s for the 4.0 i have the 3.5 liter so boosting is relatively new on this engine i think urd has one i’ll check.

Ditch the booster, the stock pumps are already overcooked. There are a multitude of cheap drop in pumps URD, AEM, Walbro etc. Unless there was some wacky stuff going on before your tune will be fine. Ultragauge is convenient to keep an eye on those trims though. :spy:

sounds like a plan. Is a pump upgrade relatively easy to do? Would i want to drop the tank if empty or pull the bed? It’s a 3rd gen so idk if it’s different. is the 255 LPH style pumps able to be used on the 3rd gens?
