Im actually going out of town for work next week, so it's the perfect time to take it in. Otherwise, yes that would have been a difficult decision.

My fiance, however, doesn't feel the same. She wants the truck now haha

Picked up a black TE yesterday. First truck ever. Traded 16 WRX for part of it. I like how high it is off the ground, and it handles alright even if it is sluggish.

Congrats on the new truck, that black looks good with those wheels!

Any plans with the truck? Modding or keeping it stock?

Thanks everyone. Been watching with envy as everyone else posted. Bought it mostly for camping and getting to upper trailheads

Plan to add tint and paid for a soft topper. Would like to do light upgrades, fogs, headlight, and tail lights and rocksliders for starters. It will take a while so I will gladly read about everyone’s upgrades.

Awesome! What made you gravitate to the Trail Edition? Helpful for others who are prospective buyers.

It was styling, special edition, price, and the locker.

What about you and what mods are everyone else doing?

I think for me, it had a lot to with working with a dealer who would make an honest deal on a truck and strip off all the port options. To me, factory options are worth more. So, there was an AG TRD OR coming in at another dealer the same allocation day, I had to move quickly on one or risk missing on both (highly desirable colors and trims of course), so I went with the dealer who I know confidently what they would charge me, I had met the salesperson in person, and I KNEW they could remove the port options. That saved me $1500, and made my trail nearly $2000 less than the TRD OR that was coming in elsewhere. So that's the story of how I was planning on an OR, but ended up with a Trail. People like to say the Trail is more expensive than a barebones OR, well to me it's case by case, and that's under the assumption you have a ton of options around you to buy. No one does these days, especially not in AG. I am so glad I didn't budge on color. I love it so much!

Now, why I like the Trail, and why I was originally interested in it: I didn't want another modified vehicle. I had a GTI before this. I didn't do anything crazy to it, but I really just wanted a factory truck that looks good day 1, with a warranty. I love the heritage grille, but was never going to mess with it due to the safety stuff up there and risk messing it up. One of the main reasons I got a new vehicle was for safety, so to go and tinker with that was never going to happen.

I prefer the interior color in the Trail, the OR interior is ugly to me.

Factory lift that works with safety system, again, huge plus for me because I was not going to get the TRD lift (only other one guaranteed to work with safety system) for 2k+. Mild lift is fine by me.

The only thing I missed out on are LED headlights, that one sucks, but these projector halogens are still a massive upgrade over my last vehicle's reflector halogens.

All in all, it's a great package that gets you a factory awesome truck, with a ton of unique features, for a price close to 40, and all I lost out on from the OR was CC/MTS, Qi charging, and Smart key. I don't care about those things. And I gained all this. So I am happy! This thing will be so desirable especially in stock form in 5 years, people will look back fondly on it. I think stock trucks end up looking cooler as they age due to most being modded to some degree over time.

Its a win-win for Toyota, they can sell an SR5 to people with a price point higher than an Off Road.

Those are the Trail Edition wheels, they’re bronze versions of the Pro wheels. Exclusive to this package

You definitely need to keep up updated with photos of all this stuff, I think you’re going to be the most heavily modded TE!

Interested to see the grab handles you went with. And console cover

For the center console i ordered custom from PRP seats, with tan stitching to match seats. Also thinking of ordering full seat covers from them but wanted to dip my toe in first.

And the grab handle I got from Raingler, again with matching tan stitching. And again just dipping my toes in so to speak, They have a netted partition for the pups, but I want to see if a cheap Amazon one will work before I go all out

To my knowledge they’re a bit different than the pro wheels. If you google search the Trail Edition you’ll find the Toyota marketing photos with close ups of the wheels.
