If an EMP hit what parts would we need on hand to get up and running?

Only in power. Both are electric pulses through the atmosphere.
But you are right in that using a fob to test if an alu pole barn would stop a near-nuclear EMP is assine.
I was just saying that if either the mobile phone or the fob did work/xmit properly then FOR SURE the alu pole barn would NOT act as a faraday cage. Beyond that, you'll have to contact NORAD in Cheyenne Mountain... :anonymous:

You mean, I can't be as cool as Ryan Gosling in the movie Drive just by buying a pair of driving gloves and making vroom vroom v8 sounds in my Tacoma while pretending to move the A/T lever like it's a manual?

I mean that's literally what 4 year olds do when they are in their Power Wheels toy right? Doing it as an adult doesn't validate it any further. LOL

    Yeah, I know.

But when used in jest, C.M. is much more recognizable by civilians...

And I as look out of my window, I see all of those many, many antennas on top of C.M.!

Custom, only one ever designed and built interiors, heavily welded frame, all sharp metal turned bed rack and a roof top I made for $75. Power pedal, injen intake system, cat delete, summit racing brake proportioning valve controlled on the fly, slightly adjusted or perhaps unrecognizable ECM, built in under bed storage, high clearance rear built with 1/4" on a 6011 1/8" rod at 120 amps, 360 degrees of led light, a PA and CB, on board air, on board propane (to cook food), on board fridge made from an old red bull fridge found on some guys man cave built into the storage cubby under the back seat, imported tranny and clutch from a good friend over in Europe to replace this aisin junk we get, combined 32 gallons fuel capacity, 18 5 gallons of water storage, built in gun locker under RTT, and all it cost was to hear the wife ramble on about upset neighbors at 2 in the morning every night since I bought that damn truck..
Not to be a Debbie downer and super serious... but... this was, at one point in time my job. I installed emitters on cell towers. Long story short, there's three levels each with ionizing and non ionizing wavelengths. Even modern vehicles like tesla, for the most part, would only be affected temporarily with only minor damage. That being said, if the big one went off, which is an airburst at high atmospheric levels with a fallout time, you shouldn't be worried about the truck at this point. You should either be a shadow on a wall because the blast left that (nuke) or you're in need of an NBC suit. This stated, if you did survive and need parts, whatever had a charge going to it WILL BE destroyed. Batteries, however, lead acid, deep cycle, non agm, will be fine. In certain case studies (I'm gonna plead the 5th on any prior experience) there have been documented instances of wiring harnesses soldering themselves together, especially cat 5. Older vehicles are obviously what people are after but they forget about alternators or even generators with diodes, fusible links, etc. Unless you have an unhealthy relationship with your truck, like I do, then it would be best to stay mechanical, learn to tolerate horses providing its not a mare, an Arabian or a mini, or be badass on stuff you have to pedal, paddle or push.

There are websites out there that have plans for building a faraday cage garage. It must be done from the ground up with all sides including the floor being protected.

A small faraday cage can be made from an old microwave oven. Just toss your small items in to one and they are protected.

I would forget about the truck in any EMP attack. Even if it was protected you won't have fuel for very long and if it runs you'll have to kill people to keep it. Best to start right away assuming you won't have anything electronic working and go from there.
